Welcome to the Rules and Ranks Page

Lifting the flap on the tent, you notice a table sitting in the middle surrounded by books and papers. Two books catch your eye: a small blue book and a very large black one. Opening the black book you scan down the page and gulp. What you see doesn't sound good.

Name: Rayne
Squad: First Wave Fighting Squad
Rule Broken: Killing another mercenary during a one on one practice fight.
Punishment: To be matched up in another "practice" fight bearing a hollow wooden dagger against an experienced friend of the late mercenary who bears a sharpened broadsword and five sharpened daggers. Fight to the death.

Seems like an eye-for-eye thing, you think to yourself. How am I supposed to know the rules? Turning your attention to the blue book you cautiously open one of the pages and begin reading. It's a book divided into two sections: rules and ranks. Too bad you can't take it with you.
The sound of a beast clearing her throat comes from behind. You swing around you find yourself face to face with the short, red squirrel Astri. She stares sternly at you as you mumble out your excuses. Then, walking around behind the desk, she slides the black book off revealing more blue books. Her face transforms into a friendly grin as she hands you the books. "Read closely," she cautions. "You're gonna need to know these, matey."
You back out of the door, and opening the book, start to read.

The Law of the Quanshaire Mercenary Patrol

The following rules are listed in order from most severe to least severe transgressions. The disobedience and breaking of the most severe of these rules could very possibly result in permanent exile from the Quanshaire Mercenary Patrol...or worse. Be warned.
  1. Mutiny, which is to be defined by the Leaders, is punishable by banishment and persecution. Again, if you have a problem, speak to the Leaders or leave the Patrol.
  2. Do not kill any other member of the Patrol. If you have a problem with an individual, speak to the Leaders. This is punishable by banishment and persecution.
  3. Automatic hits are strictly prohibited. The definition of an auto hit is directly and malignantly affecting another person without his or her permission. This can range anywhere from grasping their wrists to running them through with a sword. This is punishable according to the gravity of the hit.
  4. Your squad leaders are to be unconditionally obeyed and adhered to. Rebelling is considered mutiny. See Rule 2.
  5. Keep all actions PG, including:
  6. Mild swearing only is permitted. Words like "damn" and "hell" are permissible, because they can be found in the Redwall books. Words like "f*ck" and "sh*t" are not, and are therefore not permitted.
  7. All members of the Patrol must post or participate once a week unless circumstances arise and the Leaders are notified. (i.e. vacation, exams.)
  8. Try to come up with an original character. Preconceptions of characters, or characters modeled directly after a character in the books, such as Martin or Ublaz, are strongly discouraged. In addition, characters that are named after characters in the books will not be allowed to join the QMP, as they can be considered an infringement on Brian Jacque's copyright.
  9. The Leaders of the Quanshaire Mercenary Patrol reserve the right to change or create rules as they deem neccessary.

Kinnan's Note: We are no longer using a ranking system for regular members. Other than the leaders, this is an egalitarian group, with respect earned through participation.
