Rails are fun. I think that my favorite reason for watching rails is when someone really falls hard on the rail. I get a chuckle from that just about every time. There are no falls here, that's the best fall page, but there are some impressive and innovative railslides.

1) Blaize Mason and Justin Waugh - Double Mantis

The mantis is a term that Blaize Mason invented for a one-footed railslide where you lift your rear foot off of the ground and and try to position your arms as if you were a praying mantis, thus the term, mantis. Here, Blaize and Justin are both trying mantises, though Justin can't quite get the motion down. However, it is an innovative shot, and thus worthy to be considered for the best railslide.

2) Blaize Mason - Mantis

Here is a shot of Blaize doing his signature rail, the mantis. It is worth noting that Aaron Markel was doing similar one-footed railslides the Friday before this shot was taken, however, none were caught on camera, sorry Aaron. While Blaize's arms are hard to make out in this shot, you can really see the body motion that is needed to complete a mantis, making this a perfect example.

3) Justin Waugh -  5-0 grind on the wooden I - Beam

A 5-0 grind is a grind where the rider attempts to do a "wheelie" while riding the rail. Justin's 5-0 grind demonstrates this well. A 5-0 grind is actually a very technical trick because only your tail makes contact with the rail itself, making it easy to slip off of the rail altogether. Justin pulls this trick off easily, however.

5) Blaize Mason - Snowskate Grind on the I - Beam

Here is an interesting shot for you to think about. You might be thinking to yourself, why is this shot considered one of the best grabs for the year by SnowForum? The answer is, look at the board. Blaize is riding on a two and a half foot long snowskate across a twelve foot I - Beam. Maybe you don't think it's too cool but I do and it's my site.

4) Justin Waugh - 180 off on the Banana rail

The rail in this video is termed the Banana rail because it is yellow and curves slightly, giving it the look of a banana. Here, Justin attempts a railslide with a backside 180 degree spin off of the rail. This is by far the most technical trick caught on camera. Of all of the tricks on this page, I would vote for this one simply because I think that it is the hardest trick on the page, yet was pulled off with style by Justin.
