Eric and Bombs

Eric and Dylan were into explosives. They messed around with all kinds of bombs, from pipe bombs with normal fuses to touch explosives, time bombs with wind up clocks, napalm, and molitov cocktails. Eric detailed his way of making pipe bombs on his website and titled it book.doc.

Nate helped Eric de-powder fireworks into a can. The same can he showed his audience in one of his home videos. But Nate wasn't their only friend who was interested in explosives. Chris Morris helped them make and detonate quite a few pipe bombs. Chris made pipe bombs even when Dylan and Eric were not around. In one instance, Chris Morris and Charles Philips (Chuck) went with Patrick Mcduffee and detonated three pipe bombs under tree stumps. Fifteen students were there. Most of them were from Chatfield High School.

"Atlanta" was the bomb Erics mom had found in his tackle box. He named it after the Olympic bombing in Atlanta. "The Phoenix Project" was another bomb Eric and Dylan constructed.

The two had been experimenting with explosives long before March of 1998, but it was in March that they had constructed their first true pipe bombs, from scratch. Eric wrote on his website:

Mother fucker blew BIG. Pazzie was a complete success and it blew dee fuck outa a little creek bed. Flipping thing was heart-pounding gut-wrenching brain-twitching ground-moving insanely cool! His brothers havent found a target yet though.

Atlanta, Pholus, Peltro, and Pazzie are complete. for those of you that dont know who they are, they are, they are the first 4 true pipe bombs created entirely from scratch by the rebels (REB and VoDkA). Atlanta and Pholus are each 1 1/4" by 6" pipes, Peltro is 1" by 6", and Pazzie is 3/4" by 5". Each if packed with powder with got from fountains, morter shells, and crackering balls. Each also has a +14" morter shell type fuse. Now our only problem is to find the place that will be "ground zero." Me and VoDkA also made 2 more noisy crickets.

God damit i'm sick of people saying "wick" when talking about fireworks! Don' falkin' say anothuh falkin' WICK or I's gone to rip yer falkin' HAID off and YOU-rinate down yo' falkin' neck!! ITS FUSE!

It was very possible that Eric and Dylan had brought in stashes of pipe bombs before the incident. There were numerous empty lockers and small rooms around the school they could have hid the bombs inside of. This has not been proven, however.

They used their bombs on Columbine High School

Dylan and Eric used the massive amount of pipe bombs they had amassed, in their attack on Columbine High School. They used duct tape to ensure the strength of the bombs. They also wore match strikers taped to their forearms with matches, to make it easier to light their bombs. They also filled their pipe bombs with nails and other metal fragments to act as shrapnel. Dylan wrote "VoDkA VENGEANCE" on his pipe bombs.

They also used timing devices, although their timebomb skills were not very well developed. They had set up car bombs on timers, but Eric's never went off, and Dylan's was set 12 hours ahead of his intentions.
**Eric made instructions for their way of constructing pipe bombs and put them on his website.**
Eric and Dylan assembled and brought two 20 pound propane tank bombs into the cafeteria in duffel bags. They had cans of gasoline attached to them. There is speculation as to whether they were brought in at the time of the after prom party the weekend of April 17th. They might have brought them in earlier than April 20th, because Dylan wrote in his journal, "walk in at 11:09, set bombs for 11:17. Leave." He did not write, "bring in propane bombs" or anything indicating they were to carry something inside. I would think that Dylan would have written something about positioning the bombs if they were to bring them in that day. "Place bombs in kitchen. Set timers." Something.
They were on timers, set to detonate at 11:17 a.m., which Eric had determined to be the time that would have the highest number of students in the cafeteria.

Eric had it down to a science. He determined that in the timespan of just 4 minutes, from 11:11 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., the student population would increase from roughly 300 to 500.
Neither propane bombs exploded due to faulty wiring
When their bombs did not detonate in the cafeteria, they went in and attempted to shoot at them to get them to detonate. The cafeteria surveilance video shows Eric coming down the stairs from the library to the commons, bending down on one knee and shooting at one of the propane bombs. Later it shows Dylan lobbing a pipe bomb at it-it then detonates and causes a small explosion. It wasn't a full detonation, though. Had it been, the entire second floor would have caved in and the cafeteria would have suffered major structural damage according to explosive experts.
Eric and Dylan set their car bombs to go off at noon on April 20, 1999; however, Dylan's was set for 12:00 a.m., not p.m. Hellicopter footage shows Eric shooting at their cars from the library window in an attempt to detonate them.
Diversionary Bombs

"At 11:19 a.m., Jefferson County Dispatch Center receives the first 911 call from a citizen reporting an explosion in a field on the east side of Wadsworth Boulevard between Ken Caryl and Chatfield Avenues. The explosion is actually a timed diversionary device. Two backpacks with pipe bombs, aerosol canisters and small propane tanks had been placed in a grassy open space three miles southwest of Columbine High School. Only the pipe bombs and one of the aerosol canisters explode but the explosion and subsequent grass fire are enough to get the attention of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the Littleton Fire Department." (Sheriff's Office Official Report)

It is not known who placed it there, but it was intended to drive the city's police force away from Columbine High School so that Eric and Dylan could carry out their plan without being stopped by police. Apparently, they didn't need the diversionary bomb to keep the police out of the school. They did that on their own.

There were a total of 99 explosive devices found during the Columbine Investigation. 97 of those were found at the school, in the suspects' cars, and in their homes.

EXPLODED devices at CHS
13 were found outside, 5 in the library, 6 in the classrooms and hallways, 6 in the cafeteria for a total of 30.

UNEXPLODED devices at CHS
2 were found outside, 26 in the library, 14 in the classrooms and hallways, 4 in the cafeteria for a total of 46.

UNEXPLODED devices in Dylan's car
There were 12 total explosive devices found in Dylan's car.

UNEXPLODED devices in Eric's car
There was only one explosive device found in Eric's car.

UNEXPLODED devices at Dylan's house
There were 6 explosive devices found inside Dylan's house.

UNEXPLODED devices at Eric's house
There were 2 explosive devices found in Eric's house.

**For legal purposes, I will not post this document. Some dumbass kid will try and build one, get caught, get asked where they learned how, or build one, doesn't know its will ACTUALLY have a chance of exploding & get his head blown off. I'm not into legal drama. No way. You want the info, you can find it on your own. I don't want a lawsuit slapped on my ass. No fucking way.**

It's a shame it took 15 lives for you to teach the world something. It is  a shame it took 15 lives for you to finally be free. We love you, and we miss you, REB. Eric David Harris 4-9-81 to 4-20-99 ALWAYS REMEMBERED.
