Hidden Zones of Castlevania III

Castlevania 3 has its share of strange glitches. I read about a hidden "zone" of this game in a walkthrough written by The Castevania Dungeon. I tried this glitch, and I found a few more places where this works. I'm sure there's more places too, but I'll let a little exploring up to you.

To perform "the glitch" you must have Grant in your group. When Trevor goes down a ladder, switch to Grant when Trevor's feet are stuck together at the bottom of the screen. You'll switch to Grant and go down to the room below. Climb back up the ladder, and you'll go through the wall and enter the new area.

Area 1: Clock Tower

{The Entrance} The first zone is accessed at the top of the clocktower. After fighting Grant, head back down the first ladder you come to, perform "the glitch," and head back up the stairs. You'll know that you're at the right spot if it matches up to the picture at your left.

Continue up, and you'll go right off the screen into the zone. Keep climbing until the ladder drops Grant off onto a small blue ledge. Now you're in what I call the the inner workings of the clocktower. There's a few enemies up here, but they fall off the ledges and die.

{Inner Workings of the Clock Tower and The Purple Gear} If you look at the ground, you'll see a purplish gear, and yes, it is solid. You can continue to the right for quite awhile, climbing carefully and dodging the ever-so-deadly spikes. This wraps it up for zone 1...

Interesting trip through the outer walls of the clocktower. Now we'll send Trevor and Grant over to teh pirate ship. Who knows what kind of adventure they'll find there.

Area 2: The Ship

At the start of the ship, go down the ladder, perform the trick, and go back up to the hidden zone. Sorry, I don't have any pictures of this zone. I cannot remember much about it either, I only journeyed into it quite awhile ago. Move along buddy.

Area 3: The Marsh

The area in the marsh is quite big, and even more interesting, it has the caverns sprites in it!!! Weird. Perform the trick at the stages first ladder, and you'll head up to the third zone.

{Going Up Top} As you emerge into the new world, you'll be attacked by varius badguys from the caverns, including floating eyes, blobs, and falling energy balls. Head up a few screens, you can go up forever I believe. After heading up two or three screens, head back down and you'll find yourself in areas filled with doors, bits of Alucard's coffin, and falling energy balls.

Head back down even further, and you'll eventually be set back on solid ground...in a glitched bosses chamber! The boss isn't there though, so I guess you have to wait for the time expire. Glitched bosses chamber picture here.

Area 4: Alucard's Cave

I remember when I first found this secret area. My brother was watching, and he went coward on me. He thought the that whole thing was a little creepy.

{Enter Alucard's Hidden Domain} Perform "the trick" at the last staircase in the stage, right before Alucard's chamber. Head up, and you'll be attacked by all kinds of creatures. I believe this area is small in size. Have fun exploring. And enjoy this nice picture of the hidden zone.

This wraps up the article on The Hidden Zones of Castlevania III. I know that there are other areas out there, I just haven't taken the time to search for them all. Happy hunting! Until then, view more of The Warp Zone :)
