Teleplay Modem

Baton Technologies' Teleplay Modem is yet ANOTHER example of unlicensed companies making bigger promises than they can keep. The Teleplay Modem was announced in 1992 and later released in 1993. Sega Genesis and Nintendo modems were designed, a Super Nintendo modem was announced but never released. The basic concept of Teleplay is as follows. You plug the Teleplay Modem into the mysterious port on the bottom of the NES. Once connected, you could play a variety (one?) of special games against friends with out being on the same room as them. This sounds like it would be a really neat idea.

Being able to play Nintendo games while in a different room than your friend is a neat concept. Imagin playing Mario Bros, Pac Man, or Donkey Kong this way. This idea seems neat at first, until you see the games for the Teleplay. The one game made was called Terran Wars. The fees were like $3 hour or so. To be truthful, I am not even sure if Terran Wars made it to stores. It is on an old list I wrote as Never Being Released yet I really don't know for sure.
