| This is a
puzzler for me. All reference material I have on this depicts that the AZ
bayonet lug was much close to the muzzle. In fact, the bayonet lug
pictured below shows the space where the front sight band would fit. This
is a low serial number (8845) Erfurt 1916 make.
Update:
One of my viewers tells me that this
is likely a Turk variant:
It is a "Turk" conversion using a 98az action, etc. to make a
K98k type rifle. A 98az will have a bent bolt with
cut-out in stock for it. A bunch of these were
imported a few years ago." - Jack...
