THE KING OF HYRULE GATHERED THE SEVEN SAGES TO FIND A WAY TO SEAL THE ENTRANCE TO THE GOLDEN LAND SO THAT HIS KINGDOM WOULD BE SAFE FROM THE EVIL THERE. THE SAGES SUCCEEDED AND BROUGHT PEACE AGAIN TO HYRULE

It is here your journey begins...

3. The Guide

Well! You're finally off on your quest! As the story opens, you're Uncle leaves, but tells you to stay. Being the hero that you are, grab the lamp from the chest and head outside. Follow the path until you get to the castle, and at the gate, hang a right. You'll then come across a group of bushed, with a special looking one in the middle. Burn it with your lamp and jump down the hole.

In the dungeon you meet up with uncle again. He goes on about destiny, then gives you the sword and sheild. Keep going through the passage until you're back outside again. Follow the hedges until you find the opening, and then kill the gaurds and go back inside. Once you're back out of the rain, take a left, and proceed forward to the end of the hall, where you should go right, and then head downstairs.

Back in the basement, kill the gaurd, raid the chest, and use your new key on the locked door. Follow the path, being careful of the gaping pit on either side, and go forward another screen when you reach the room with the green gaurds. In this next room, kill the gaurd to open the door where you can kill the blue gaurd for another key, and open the chest for the Boomerang.

Go through the locked door, then to the 2nd Basement level, only to head down again to level B3. For the "Boss" you hit him with the boomerang and then run in and hit him again with the sword while he's shaking. Repeat as nessicary and you'll get the big key. Open the nearest cell, and meet up with none other than the princess! After a little conversation, get the rupees out of the chest, and head back to the first floor with Zelda in tow.

After you make it back to the main room you came in through, head up the stairs and to the very back, where you and Zelda push open the passageway. The torches aren't much use to light because they go out after just a few seconds, but if you take the first right, and then go down the stairs, you'll be fine. In the next hallway, watch out for those snakes, and just hit the stairs again to B1.

Take a right in this room, get the key out of the chest, and then keep going through the locked door. In this room, the door is on the left, but you can also pick off the land-bound mice for some easy rupees. Same for the next screen, except the door is at the top along with 2 bats. Then (boy isn't the dark-spooky ambiance getting a bit old?) kill all the baddies for a small key, and proceed through the door.

Speak of the devil, you're back in the light again. There are 2 bomb-able walls, but being that you have no explosives, just push the block forward and go upstairs. Up on floor one, just pick of the mice, and go through the southern door where you pull the switch and enter into *gasp* the Sanctuary! (Complete with old-school Gregorian Chant music) After an enthralling conversation, grab your heart container out of the chest and exit the sanctuary.

Now, follow the past east until your map says you've reached the Kakario Village (marked with a little X) The house on the far left was "The hideout for a gang of theives". In the basement there's a little block puzzle you need to solve to get to the chests (if you can't figure it out, don't worry, there's just rupees, you're not missing much). Right before you go inside the elder's house, check the sign next to it: New's travels fast, you're now a wanted man!

--KAKARIO VILLAGE--
Disapointingly, there's only some old lady inside, not the elder, but at least you've got some time to kill looking for someone in town with information. Talk to the salesman and buy the bottle (if you don't have the cash, go kill some baddies, you'd be surprised when these bottles come in handy). The stupid lady in front of the small house at the east end of town will recognize you, and a soldier comes after you (Some effort on the part of Mr. Big-Bad Wizard huh?). The kid who's sick in bed will give you a bug net, which you can use to catch faries! and bugs too if it so pleases you. Cut through the bushes in front of the next house and the man will tell you a story about fish-people (AKA Zoras). After another run-in with some chick who calls the cops on you, you finally find the information you're looking for from the kid who hangs out with the chickens. Inside the house next to the chicken-boy, buy some bombs and head back to the lady who said "she still trusts you". Inside her house there's a wall with a crack in it. Blow it up for a room with some rupees, then its time to get back on the road!

Quest for the Pendant of Courage

The way you're going to take to the elder's hidout place is pretty straight foreward, just follow your map. If you have trouble with the baddies, just hit them with the boomerang (to paralyze them) and then slice them with your sword. After you reach Sahasrahla and hear what he has to say, bomb the back of his little cave to find a room full of chests with bombs and mon-ay! After that little fiesta, head towards the flashy-green-blinking thing on your map (its a pendant, symbolizing the "East Palace"). Once you get there, go on inside for your next dungeon adventure.

Inside the East Palace, pick up the pot right in from of you, and then step on the switch and go through the door. On the next screen, kill the baddies, and step on the raised floor tile to precede. Next use your mad dodging skills to get past the large rolling stones, and into the next passage. There, go right, break the pots around the raised tile, trip it, and go through the door you opened. Kill the stalfalos here, and go through the upper right exit. On the next screen avoid the floating thing, and trip the switch under the center pot to gain access to the next room with the map.

Back track 2 screens left from the map room, and then take the door on the right (You'll need to trip another tile switch). Here, take out the Stalfalos, and then proceed through the lower most door on the left. Here, lift up a pot to draw out the monsters, kill 'em all, then move on to grab the compass and go down the stairs and out the right. Talk to the stone and get some helpful hints from the elder guy, and then keep going right. Walk past that big treasure chest, you can't open it now anyway, don't touch the big armored guys, and then head right again. You're now on the lower level of a room you visited earlier, just go down, up the stairs, and boom!

Back in the dark. Run clockwise along the donut-shaped halway, trip the raised tile, and bail out to the right. In this room, throw the pots at the skelton guys for a 1-Hit KO. Break all the pots to find a small key, then open the locked door in the room you just came through. Proceed across the skywalk, and then through the door on the left. Kill the stalfolos first, then the squigly worm-like thing, then smack the big guy in his eye a couple times; this makes the (for lack of a better term) red-swirly things start flying around. While they're doing this, grab the center-most pot, trip the switch, grab the "Big Key" out of the chest, and then back track outa there. Trek back to the room with the big chest, open it to find the bow, complete with 10 arrows!

In this next room, and this may be a bit difficult, but destroy all the enemies, and you'll get a small key. Use this on the door to the left to open up a stair case. In the next room, do your best to aviod those red spiny things, grab the goodies under the pots, trip the switch and get out of there.

Now you'll get a chance to use your new bow and arrow. Wait until the armored guys in this room open up an eye, and shoot it with the arrow- poof! Repeat until you've disposed of them, hit the lower-most of the 3 tiles in the row to open the door, and then continue onward. In the room, just make your way straight across, to the locked door. From there, trip the upper-left floor tile to open the door and then keep going left.

First off, don't mess with the red guy in this room until you've killed the stalfalos. Then, hit him twice in his eye with an arrow to open the door and proceed upward. In this room, just try and put yourself in a position to take each one of the red guys one at a time, then take what's left under the pots, and head north.

--BOSS: ARMOS KNIGHTS--
For these guys, you want to first start out by running to the bottom left corner while the bulls spin around in a circle. Then, when they line up, pick one, and shoot it 3 times to kill it, creating a gap in the big wall of boss-clones. When you've narrowed it down to one, he'll turn red and try to stop on you. Just try and stay on the opposite end of the screen from him, and shoot him when he comes down with an arrow. After 3 hits, you'll get a heart container, and the Pendant of Courage

Ok, time to get out of there, and back to our friend the village elder. He'll tell you a fun story, give you some shoes, and then send you off to find an item around Lake Hylia. We'll get to that in just a second. First, look at your map; around Lake Hylia (the water mass in the bottom right) there's a "T" shaped piece of land. On the left side of the horizantal "T-Beam" there's a small patch of grass. Wander over and around there until you find a cave; In the cave, there's fairies! Catch 2 of them with the bug net, and store them in bottles. Use the remaining fairies to heal yourself.

Now you're going to want to back-track across the horizantal "T-Beam" and continue westward until you reach a bridge. You can keep going south until you reach the fortune teller's house (don't bother asking him, he just goes on about finding a sage), and if you need supplies, there's a store back north and inside the cave to your east.

Now, circle around the entire lake until you're at the east border of the map, and proceed north to the wall that stops you. First go through the open passage, and bomb the wall to find a fairy fountain. Then head back outside and bomb the cracked wall to reach a passage with a chest containing the Ice Rod! Now, as you circle back around Lake Hylia, stop at the south west corner, and then go north into a cave. Kill all of the ememies (the ones across the pits can be hit with arrows). In the other room, a guy will give you a whole lot of money, and then open the chests for more rupees and supplies.
