Emily
Born in Pallahade, Emily was left to die in a pit of garbage the same day she was born. And she would have, if an aging street woman, Margie, had not found her and decided the infant would one day make a good slave. Margie gave Emily only enough food and cloths to keep her alive, and cared nothing for the child beyond what Emily could do for her. Margie taught Emily how to pick pockets, and locks so that she could steal for her and how to read and write so that she could run other erends. And the majority of money, clothes and food that Emily did steal, was taken from her by Margie. Even though Emily risked capture and punishment by city guards, merchants or home owners each time she stole, she risked Margie's fury and punishment if she didn't. About the only pleasant part of her life growing up in the streets was during festivals. She'd climb up on a roof where city guards wouldn't see her and listen to the music and stories. Only coming down to pick clean the pedestrian's pockets when the day was starting to grow short. She liked music so much, she even stole a flute and taught herself to play it by watching buskers on the street playing. Though she'd never play where anyone could hear or catch her. Drawing attention to herself was dangerous, and she knew that all to well. And after Margie finally died, Emily's short ten years of life became even more dangerous.
For while Margie had been unkind at the best of times, she was a source
of protection for Emily against the street people who preyed on the smaller
and weaker. The street men saw in the beautiful youth, a malable, sellable
pocession. And something to warm their beds at night. But Emily had not
been lax while Margie had been alive. The child was very skilled with knives
and with turning her larger opponent's strength against them. She fought
back against those men who came to claim her, leaving on them worse scars
than they'd left on her. But she remained free. Yet she still lived hand
to mouth and half wild. Never being that
she could ever even hope to escape her lot in life. And knowing that
one day she would be overpowered and forced into another kind of slavery/imprisionment.
Be it at the hands of the guards, merchants or street men.
But then one day she saw a Unicorn up close for the first time and her breath was taken away. She instantly fell in love with them. And desperately wanted to be a part of their world. So finally, unable to resist that desire, she applied at the academy. Even though she believed she'd be thrown out for being a nothing more than a lowly street urchin. But the Academy proved to be the best decision she'd ever made. She thrived on the good food, clothes, shelter and classes. While she didn't get much taller, she came more out of her shell, and opened up to people more. Yet she still doens't talk about her life before she entered the academy. She doesn't want anyone knowing she's just another worthless street urchin.

birthdate: 31 SR 107 ADT
location: wildborn (Academy arrival: 36 SR 109 ADT)
sex: male
height: 17h
color: black blanket appaloosa, rainbow mane&tail
build: average
talent: His magic power, that of “dream illusion“, or enhancing the minds of others so that they see what they truly want to see, instead of what truly is. The power is slightly more limited than straight illusion (since it's significance fully depends of the weakness or willingness of the mind it is used upon)
history & personality: Reckless, wild, and quick-tempered, Rainshadow is full of himself and his animal instincts. A wild-born expelled from his herd because of his pro-human views, though he likes humans and agrees with the concepts set forth by the Uen Roug, he fails to understand the niceties of civilization and the diplomatic skills every Uen Roug must at least have a sense of. As an unBonded, he caused much mischief, including the destruction of several thousand chips worth of damage to Academy property. His intentions, of course, are never wanton, he just has much to learn about being an Academy unicorn, truthfully, he still has time to adjust. His wild name, the image of droplets of rainbows falling in shadows. Rainshadow is a wild and reckless fighter, powerful but uncontrolled.
