A sister in
England , who had been confined to a wheelchair
before she learned the Truth, had been witnessing
writing one letter everyday for 10 years and had
never received a response to any of her letters.
When the circuit overseer visited her
congregation, she asked to speak with him. She
told him, "I am going to quit writing letters,
because no one has ever replied. Jehovah doesn't
want me. I give up."
The circuit overseer told her, "You can't do that.
Remember the day that you got baptized, you said
you were willing to do anything for Jehovah. You
don't know what good your letters have done. You
can't quit, Jehovah is not finished with you yet.
You can't give up."
Our sister went away a little disgruntled. Our
sister had a favorite radio program that she
listened to each week. The week following her
discussion with the circuit overseer, she turned
on the program. The announcer began to explain
that he had been away because his mother had died
suddenly and he was still very upset but needed to
get back to his work.
Our sister began to think about what the circuit
overseer had said and decided to write one more
letter. In her letter, she told the announcer how
much she had enjoyed his program and then began to
witness to him about the resurrection hope.
The next week when she turned on the program, the
announcer started to thank all the people for the
consoling letters he had received during the week.
And then he said, "But one letter really touched
my heart, and I would like to read it to you." He
then read our sister's letter on the air.
She was so happy and began to think again about
what the circuit overseer had told her, that
Jehovah was not finished with her yet. She
immediately began to write another letter
explaining the paradise hope.
One day the next week while she was eating lunch
she heard a knock at the door. When she opened the
door a man was standing there and he said, "I know
you don't know my face but close your eyes; maybe
you will recognize my voice."
"I just had to meet the person who wrote me those
beautiful letters. Also I wanted to tell you that
I really want to see my mother again, so I need to
learn more. I wanted to know if I came to visit
you once a week, would you be willing to teach me
more about the paradise earth?"
Our sister again recalled the words, 'Jehovah is
not finished with you yet.'
So the man and his wife came to the sister 's flat
and before long accepted the Truth and were
baptized.
Then one day his whole family came to see her and
said, "We had had a family conference and we would
like to ask you a question. You have done so much
for us that we would like to do something for you.
We know we will see Mum in the resurrection, but
we would like you to be our Mum until then. Will
you come live with us so we can take care of you?"
The sister, with tears in her eyes, accepted their
offer and again recalled the circuit overseer's
words, "Jehovah is not finished with you yet."
So, dear friends, we can see what joy and
blessings this sister received because she kept
on 'declaring the good news without letup.'
