Ty caught the bacteria infection that is going around the NICU. Lindsay caught it and has been treated with antibiotics and are better. Ty caught it early this week and has been being treated with the antibiotics. He is getting better but the antibiotics along with the infection make his belly hurt. Along with all of this, he has been working very hard on his breathing. Also his hernias are becoming very large and uncomfortable.
Because of all of this he has had to work so hard! His weight has not really gone up like we would like. He is right at 6 lbs now. They have been increasing his feedings which should help him gain more weight.
They have scheduled a surgery to repair his hernias on November the 6th. It can't come quick enough. He is in so much pain and discomfort. Usually right after he eats he begins to cringe and cry.
Also they have been going back and forth on his CPAP level. He was on a 7 then went back to an 8 then back to a 7 and now is back on an 8. They said that because he is working so hard on everything that he doesn't have the energy to stay at a 7. I think that once the bacteria infection is gone and after his hernia surgery, he'll be ready to start working hard on getting off the CPAP.
The CPAP is really aggravating his nose, causing a lot of buildup and discomfort. Once he can get on the cannula like his sister is on, then he'll be so much happier!
I just feel so bad for him because his entire life has been filled with more pain then comfort. We hold him every day as much as we can to try to teach him that things will get better! Once we get him home we are going to do everything possible to show him that he can feel good.
We are still hoping to get him home by Thanksgiving but with all of this going on it may be more like Christmas, but we'll get him home!
Please pray for him! He is such a fighter and just loves living! He has never given up and has always shown us that he is a wonderful baby! He's going to grow up to be a great person!!
