We all had a very busy past couple of days! On Monday, Candi spent most of the day filling out paperwork and getting our discharge set up. At around 6pm we were cleared to take her home! We loaded her into the car and headed for Illinois!
Once we got home we were greeted by our healthy friends and family. Some people wanted to come but were sick... unfortunately no sick people are allowed around her right now. We know that their thought were with us though!
We had a wonderful welcome home gathering for her! Then the night began! Since she has been in the NICU for so long, she was very accustomed to how things operated and the noises that accompany the NICU. So coming to a new place was very uncomfortable for her. We spent the entire night trying to comfort her and get her to sleep. She would sleep for about 10 minutes and then wake up crying... So it was a very long first night home.
On Tuesday, Mom and I spent the day with Lindsay. We went to visit our pediatrician in Moline, then for a quick visit with some of our wonderful friends at the school where Candi workes. We didn't dare take her into the school, so they came out to the car and peeked at her through the car window.
Then after we gathered everything that we needed from home, we headed back to Iowa City. We went up to visit with Ty for a few minutes then came back to the Ronald McDonald House to start another night. Hopefully this one will be better than last night!
I just can't believe that she's home! It's been so long and now it's here! Now we just have to figure out what we're supposed to be doing with her... We'll get it figured out eventually...
