Grant Fuhr
One of Hockey's great goaltenders, can now bask in the spotlight of his own accomplishments as he joins the Hockey Hall of Fame as past of the Class of 2003. The Spruce Grove, Alberta native paved his way to the Hall by being the last line of defense for the mighty Edmonton Oilers of the 1980s that captured five Stanley Cups between 1984 and 1990. In 868 regular season games with the Oilers, Maple Leafs, Sabres, Kings, Blues and Flames, Fuhr recorded 403 wins and 114 ties and 25 shutouts. He notched 25 or more NHL regular-season wins nine times and won the Vezina Trophy in 1988. The former 1981 first-rounder (eighth overall) is first in most NHL regular-season games by a goaltender in one season with 79 (1995-96) and second in career Stanley Cup Playoff victories with 92. In 1984 and 1987, Fuhr won two Canada Cups as a member of Team Canada. In 1994, while a member of the Sabres, he shared the Williams M. Jennings Trophy with Dominik Hasek.
