I walked off the set and headed back for the dressing room, just wanting to grab my backpack and head back to the hotel. Pushing open the door I grabbed the bag and turned, running into a body.
Kevin.
I sighed, knowing the lecture was about to happen. "The hat Nick? This was supposed to be a professional interview, you look like you're twelve in that stupid baseball hat." I sighed, again feeling the anger welling up inside me, "Know what, if I'm so fucking unprofessional for wearing a fucking hat then why don't you just kick me out of this fucking group!" My voice cracked with tension as Kevin stepped back slightly from me. I smiled internally some at the surprised look on his face. "What is with the attitude Nick?" I looked at him, seeing his stern "dad" face. "Nothing dad." I accented the word as I narrowed my eyes, tossing the pack up onto my shoulder. "Look Kev, I just want to get outta here ok? I don't feel like…" "I don't care what you feel like right now. Nick we need to talk about some things and you can't just walk away from it anymore. You hide out in your hotel room, you don't answer your door or the phone half the time…what's the deal?"
"What's the deal…" I just shook my head at the words. Straightening up I changed my "attitude", tossing out my famous shit-eating grin. "No deal Kev. I swear. I'm just tired that's all, I dunno, not getting enough sleep or worried about the new album…I'm sorry k? I'll straighten up I swear. I just need to get some rest or something…more vitamins maybe." I laughed slightly, watching him relax as he pulled me into a hug. "I'm just worried about you Nick. You just seem…I don't know…off lately." I hitched my bag farther up on my shoulder as he stepped back from the door, letting me pass. "I'm ok really, don't worry 'bout it. I'm just gonna go lay down for awhile." I pushed the exit door open and felt Kevin's gaze on my back. I wanted to just keep walking, not look back, and disappear into the crowds of people walking down the street. I climbed into the waiting car, leaning back against the leather seat and tried to just stop thinking for once.
