The Purse

This is our way to reward all our active players. Players with ranking personas have more requirements to meet before they get their reward. It's only fair, after all everyone must work hard for their power right?

What are Marks?

Marks are a unit of money used on Pern.

How do you acquire these Marks?

You earn Marks by meeting the posting requirements of each persona in a given month. You can also acquire them for great rping in a thread, and even bonus Marks for going well above and beyond your requirements.

For each Character whose requirements you meet, you get 1/2 Mark. Those with the highest posting requirements get 1 Mark reaching their goal. The more characters you have, the more Marks you are able to get, but also the harder it is to meet all the posting requirements. NPCs may count towards your post total.

What can I get with my Marks?

You must inform the BoD before you spend your units. The best way is to email the bod at lhwbod@yahoogroups.com

What are the Posting Requirements?

You must fulfill requirements for each persona separately. These threads can be started by you, or merely participated in. Though your participation must be substantial, i.e. no one-line posts.

If you own a ranking character (i.e. anything requiring 5 or more threads), you may get more Marks depending how long your posts are, how often you post, and if you go over your requirements.

Weyrbrats, Drudges, Candidates, Non-riders, Weyrfolk - 3 threads per month (1/2 Mark)

Weyrcrafter, Wingseconds, Green/Blue/Brown Riders - 4 threads per month (1/2 Mark)

Wingleaders, Searchriders, Bronzeriders, Weyrlingmaster Assistants - 5 threads per month (1 Mark)

Weyrleader, Weyrsecond, Goldriders, Weyrlingmaster, Craftmaster - 6 threads per month (2 Marks)

Highest ranking charas, i.e. Weyrleader, Weyrwoman, Weyrman, Weyrsecond, and Goldriders must meet half of their activity requirements or face having their character taken and turned over to the BoD until further notice! You should expect nothing less from the heads of the Weyr. They have to be an example to the rest and must match everyone else for dedication. If there are outside circumstances which keep you from meeting these requirements, please alert the BoD, so we may come to a compromise.


What if I don't have enough Marks to buy what I want?

Keep in mind that it is up to you to use your currency wisely. If you have wasted, lack Marks, or wish to buy more than one item, we cannot make exceptions nor offer them free. Decide, save up, use your creativity. These prizes don't come cheap or easy. Don't ask for breaks from the BoD. Everyone has to work for their stuff.

If you have problems, consider that this system offers privileges not otherwise possible. It's only fair that they're expensive. Consider supply and demand. Nothing worth having is without effort, particularly when its rare and highly demanded, and you can be sure all of the above are in demand.

Are Units Transferrable?

Simply put, no.  Units are not meant to be given but earned. They're purely a means for the BoD to reward active members; they are not gifts.

For those who bring someone into the rpg, you will now have two Marks added to your total. Remember to make the BoD aware of this.


How do I keep track of my units?

You keep track of your units by making adding records to our two databases
One is for keeping track of Posts per Character.
The other for keeping track of your Marks.
The BoD only moderates and keeps an eye on everyone to keep them honest. It is the responsiblity of the player to keep both databases up to date and accurate!

What if I don't want to participate?

There's no punishment for not participating -this is only to boost activity- but you'll only reap benefits if you do.

Notes:

1) You will receive a Mark for participating in dragon Mating Flights, either with your own PC or an NPC! Please note them in your threads, if they're not clear.
2) When we say threads per month, we mean a minimum so the number is the minimum you will have to do.  You are welcome to do more and maybe rewarded for it.
