This album was recorded during the huge grunge era and the influence of bands such as Sound Garden, Nine Inch Nails and Stone Temple Pilots. The band struggled with the idea with releasing the album or shelving it. They figured that the album had merit and that it should see the light of day. There was no hype by the band or record company. The album itself was a bare bones release. The album was received well by critics and earned KISS some new fans by the darker and more dangerous sound than any of their previous releases. Bruce Kulick had some co-writing credits on this album and also performed lead vocals on I Walk Alone. 7\10
