For those student teaching or trying to meet service hour requirements, we are trying to come up with more service projects that can be completed at home.

• Everyone was instructed to take a calendar and an officer information sheet.   New members were also to take a member packet.   They will be available at the next meeting, as well.

• Megan gave a brief overview of Kappa Delta Pi, which can be found in the member packet.

• Interest sheets are to be completed and returned by the next meeting.   Please list your birth date, and indicate at which address you will be residing at your birthday.   We like to send birthday cards, and want to make sure they reach you!

Requirements for initiation:

• 50 semester credits at Cal , 12 must be professional
• 3.5+ GPA for Undergrads
• Minimum of 8 meetings (extra service hours can count as meetings)
• One chapter event
• Minimum of 2 fundraisers, one of which is the ticket sale
• One service project/4 service hours per year.   Service Proposal sheets must be completed and turned in to Autumn by the meeting following the event to earn credit.
• One highway cleanup PER YEAR
• Serve on a chapter committee
• Attend initiation on March 25, and attend the March 23^rd meeting prior to initiation
• A membership form and $50 dues are due before the end of February.   Exact date will be given at the next meeting.
• A checklist in the member packet will help initiates and members keep track of service.

• The calendar dates are tentative.   While they will be followed for the most part, unforeseeable circumstances may cause some changes.

• The next all-member meeting will be Tuesday, January 31, they will then follow an every-other-Tuesday schedule.

• It was noted that both highway clean-up dates have snow dates.

• Reading Night will be sometime during the first week of April.   It will be at the Citizens’ Library in Washington .   Theme will be “Once Upon a Time”, fairy tales and fables.

   

  Service Committees:

   We have eight this semester.   Members and initiates are to sign up for at least one. No more than 8-10 on a committee.  Especially the RIF and Initiation committees may need more people per committee, please.   Committees are:

  • Service:   Plans events for everyone to earn service hours.
  • Social:   Plans fun events for Kappa members and initiates to get to know one another in a social setting.
  • Highway Clean-up:   Attends both clean-ups; Organizes bag pick-up with Penn Dot; Inventories supplies.
  • RIF :   Helps with materials, set-up, tear-down on Reading Night.
  • Fundraising:   Plans fundraising activities for current and future semesters.
  • Initiation Committee:   Helps with decorations, set-up, clean-up, pamphlets, etc., for initiation.
  • PR:   Creates and displays signs with meeting info, upcoming events.
  • Adopt-A-School:   Chooses a school to which Kappa will donate books, materials, manipulatives; create other ways Kappa can help the school  

Initiation

The Chapel on campus is currently reserved, though other places are being researched.   This is a REQUIRED event.   It will be March 25, at 11:00 .

T-Shirts:  

Some t-shirts from last semester are still in the resource room.   If they are not picked up by the buyer, they will be resold.   See Megan or Tammy to pick up your shirt.   We are thinking of hoodies for this semester.

Adopt-A-School:  

We currently have two boxes of books ready to be donated.   The committee is asked to research the school they have in mind, i.e., PSSA scores, financial situation, location.   We are looking for an elementary school.

Tickets

Were given out during the meeting.   Each person received 20 tickets.   They are $2.   Ticket date is March 11.   All ticket stubs and money, are due on February 14. You can not return any unsold tickets. ALL 20 tickets MUST be sold in order for the fundraiser to count. The result of a person with unsold tickets, is that they can not be initiated .   If you need tickets, see Megan.   You must sign out your envelope.

When giving money to Tammy, please use an envelope with your name and the event listed on the outside.   This is especially important when turning in cash.   Checks are greatly appreciated.   They are made out to Kappa Delta Pi, unless otherwise indicated.

Will soon be available in the folder on our bulletin board at the end of the hall on the 3^rd floor of the Keystone building.   They may also be downloaded from our website.

Committees

Everyone met with their committee at the end of the meeting.   A chairperson was to be chosen for each committee, as well as a consistent meeting time.   Chairpersons are to email Liz with the names of committee members, chairperson, meeting time, and 3 ideas from the committee.  Committees are to meet regularly to work on their designated event.
