In our hurried daily life we often see in passing books, tapes, classes on meditation aiming
to calming down our troubled mind. In our hurried daily life, we encounter a rat-race full of worldly
attachments.
The goal of this meditation is the beautiful silence, stillness and clarity of mind.

I went all over looking for places to meditate. I didn't realise it was already there, in my heart.
All the meditation is right there inside you. Birth, old age, sickness, and death are right there within you.
I travelled all over until I was ready to drop dead from exhaustion. Only then, when I stopped, did I find
what I was looking for...inside me.
We do not meditate to see heaven, but to end sufferring.
Of course there are dozens of meditation techniques, but it all comes down to this - just
let it all be. Step over here where it is cool, out of the battle.
Why not give it a try?

The best way to practice meditation is to enroll oneself in a meditation class. There are meditation practice classes
in Buddhist Centres worldwide. A typical meditation session in a centre may last for 1 hour a session. It may be
difficult for a beginner to start initially. However, constant practice will allow oneself to develop a
better concentration and clearer mind, which is peaceful and wonderful.
From my previous BFB Site I have collected and practised myself these meditation below.
1. Meditation
(Breathing) Anapanasati
This meditation can help calm your mind and increase concentration and
then gaining an insight of yourself and everything.
Method :
1.Initially, chant to pay respect and take in a few deep breaths for
preliminary calming down.
2.Next you can start breathing while counting your breaths while noticing
each breath.
3.As you breathe in, you can count one, exhale, two, inhale, three,
and so on until you reached 10.
4.Repeat procedure 3 above.
5.Continue this meditation and do not exceed half an hour every time
you meditate.
This meditation will also help those who
are deluded into unprofitable bad thoughts and wish to seek calmness and
an understanding of the true situation.
| 2. Meditation on Loving Kindness,
Metta Bhavana
Mentally Repeat "May I be without enmity, without ill-will and
untroubled; may I keep myself happy."
-Think of a friendly person, a neutral person & an enemy @ a person
who has offended you & recite mentally for each of them: "May
you be without enmity, without ill-will and untroubled; may you keep yourself
happy."
-Think of the people who live around you, then proceed to those in your
town, country and the universe & recite, for each category: "May
all beings be without enmity, without ill-will & untroubled; may they
keep themselves happy."
***Precautions -Don't think of a person
of opposite sex @ a deceased person while meditating. -Practice
regularly. Seat comfortably - Lotus @ semi-lotus position.
