Sent to Camp Chase Ohio to await exchange, went AWOL from parole camp on January 20, 1863. Removal of AWOL was denied at a later time. Born October 20, 1842, Died January 14, 1912. Brother of Isaac and William Cagle both of the 51st TN.

Transferred to Camp Chase, OH July 26, 1863 where he died of pneumonia December 31, 1863. Buried South of Camp Chase in grave #686. Brother of Isaac Cagle 51st TN and Benjamin Franklin Cagle, 7th TN.. Son of David and Elizabeth Cagle.
