Yule/Winter Solstice

This holiday takes place on December 20, 21 or 22.
Also known as: Yuletide, or Alban Arthan.

On this day, we have the shortes day and the longest night.  It is a solar festival, celebrated by fire and the use of the Yule log.  Colours for this season are red and green.  To insure wealth and happiness throughout the following year one may want to burn bayberry candles.  The reindeer stag is a reminder of the horned god.

Yule is a word that the Christians used for the Christmas Season, though this time of year was sacred long before the birth of Christ.

People of many different religons strengthen the light at this time of year.  Pagans and Christians bring evergreen trees into their homes and decorate them with lights and orniments that shine and twinkle.  This reminds us that life continues in the depths of winter.
