Samhain

October 31/November 1.

This Sabbat is the 3rd of the harvest festivals.  This is also the witches new year, representing one full turn of the wheel.    This is a festival that honours the dead.  It is said that this is the time of year when the veil between the two worlds is the thinest.
Jack-o-lanterns and gourds make wonderful decorations, and well, they can be used in rituals.

Use black candles to ward off negativity.  This is also a good time to buy a new broom.  I prefer the old fashion kind.  On a recient trip to Tennessee I found a lovely little rustic shop called Rustic Broom ShopIt's located in the Great Smoky Arts & Craft's community in Gatlinburg.  They make wonderful brooms of different lengths, for a very excellent price.  If you care to take the few back roads to fing them, they're located at: 4267 Tatem Marr Way Sevierville, TN.

Also reciently I found a new book by Silver Ravenwolf titled, Halloween: Customs, spells & recipes.  Lot's of neat info in this book.  ISBN:1-56718-719-6 for those of you who may wish to look for it.
