Chapter Eighteen

Taylor

I looked up at Kyle as Katelyn fell into my arms. "What do I do?"

Kyle's face was pale with worry for his sister. "Carry her to bed."

I nodded and gently lifted her. She felt light. Carefully, I carried her upstairs to her room and laid her on the bed.

"Katelyn?" I whispered, sitting down next to her. I brushed her hair off her forehead. What had caused her to faint was really bothering me. Was it drugs?

"Is she awake yet?" Kyle asked, walking into the room, causing me to jump.

"No, man. She's out cold. I think you shoud call an ambulance." I said, pulling a blanket over her.

"But what if it's drugs? If they catch them in her system, they'll send her to boot camp or something. " he said, knealing in front of the bed.

"Maybe that's what she needs..." I said seriously.

"Man, she may need help, but she's my sister. I can't let them take her there." Kyle watched her.

I felt movement from the bed and I looked over to see Katelyn open her eyes. Thank God. "Hey, Kate. You alright?"

She looked at me as if she didn't know who I was. "Wh-what happened?"

Kyle leaned up. "You passed out in the living room, so we brought you up here."

She sat up slowly. "The last thing I remember is..." her eyes darkened.

"What happened, Kate? You were in the living room crying like crazy, then the next minute, you're passing out. Did you take something?" her brother asked slowly.

"No." she frowned. "Why am I even talking to you two for?"

"Because we're trying to help you here, Katelyn. We're trying to figure out what's going on with you." I said, backing Kyle up.

"Why should it even matter what's wrong with me? You don't care about me. No one does." she pulled her knees up to her chin. "Get out of my room."

"No! Tell us what's up with you! We've been worrying about you since you've been back. We care about you Katelyn but you're not letting us!" I yelled, getting angry.

She frowned at me. "Fine. If you must know, my best friend fucked my boyfriend!"

Kyle and I stood there in shock. We weren't perpared for that one. And seeing how shocked I was, I knew he was even more so.

Katelyn looked down at the bed. "Now do you understand?" a fresh new set of tears formed in her eyes. It was all I could do not to brush them away, to comfort her. But I knew I couldn't.

Kyle sat down next to her and put his arm around her shoulders. "Shh. It'll be okay."

She pulled away from him. "No, it's not going to be okay. Do you know what he said to me after I kicked him out?"

We both shook our heads.

"He goes, 'I was the first one to fuck you, now you no longer have your virginity. I do.' Then he had the balls to tell me that he was cheating on me and that he had 'other bitches to fuck.'" she went on. "I gave it to him, and he goes off and fucks someone else. I didn't mean anything to him!" she buried her face in her brother's shoulder and cried.

The next day, Kyle and I headed to the basketball courts. Katelyn was lounging around the house, crying, so we thought she might want to be alone. Of course we hid all sharp objects and deadly chemicals before we left.

"I still can't believe Destiny did that to Katelyn." Kyle said, shaking his head. "I mean, she didn't seem like the kind of person to do that to her best friend. They were friends for so long..."

"People change, man." I said quietly. "That's been obvious the past couple of weeks."

"No lie. You changed." he laughed.

I looked over at him. "What do you mean?"

"You fell in love with my sister."

I was about to comment when I saw Destiny and Jason arguing beside the park. It looked like a very heated argument, she was crying, then reached up and slapped him. But he returned the guesture by slapping her in return.

I looked over at Kyle. He had seen it, too. He was half way over to them before I could stop him.

"Well if it ain't the fags? What the fuck do you want?" Jason asked as Kyle drew closer.

"What we want is for you to leave Destiny alone." he said angerly.

Jason laughed evily. "What difference does it make to you? What do you want this whore for? All she's good for is a good fuck, and most of the time it's not even that good!"

That was the clencher for Kyle. He drew back his fist and hit Jason, hard, in the nose, causing Jason to stumble backwards, holding his nose.

"You little shit! You broke my damn nose! Now you're going to get it you fucker!" he screamed and lunged for Kyle, but he was too quick for him. He moved to the side, watching Jason fall to the ground with a loud thump.

Destiny walked over to him and kicked him in the nads...hard.

He let out a loud yell and curled into a tight ball.

Kyle walked over to Destiny. "You okay?"

She shrugged. "Yeah, I guess." she mumbbled.

I walked over to them. "Well if you're okay, we should leave before all the basketball courts are taken." I knew I was being rude but I couldn't help it. What she had done to Katelyn really pissed me off.

"Yeah...I guess you're right." we turned to leave. "See you around, Destiny." he said.

"Kyle?" Destiny started after him.

We stopped walking and turned around "Yeah?"

She walked over to us. "Will you give Katelyn a message for me?"

Kyle looked at her. "I doubt she wants to hear anything you have to say right now, Des."

"I know." she said sadly, sitting down on the side walk. "But I really want her to know this."

"Um, I'll go wait over there." I said, wanting to give them privacy, it was none of my business.

"No, I want you to hear this, too." Destiny said quietly,

Kyle and I sat down on the sidewalk beside her, waiting for her to start.

"I suppose she told you what happened, right?" she asked, fiddeling with her purse.

We nodded mutely.

"Well, it happened at a party. It was before I knew Katelyn and Scott were together. I was with Jason at the time. Anyways, we were at the party, there was a whole lot of liquor and drugs around. Jason had gone home after Scott said he would give me a ride home. So, after the party, almost everyone was gone besides a few people that were passed out on the lawn and in the basement. I was so drunk and stoned off my ass that I couldn't move. Scott said he would help me home, but I wasn't capible of walking to the car and my parents were home."

She paused, waiting for us to say something, but when we didn't, she continued. "Anyways, we went back to his house because his parents were always away and we could go home drunk and no one would know. And he suggested that I sleep in his room with him, so...I did. I don't remember every single detail, but he forced me to have sex with him. I never wanted to. He was just a friend to me. Nothing more. But, I didn't know he was with Katelyn at the time. I was supposed to go meet her boyfriend the next day...but I had known him all along."

We sat in silence as we listened to her talk. She seemed honestly sorry about what she had done. Scott had apparently raped her. And because of him, Katelyn and Destiny's life long friendship had come to a terrible end.

Kyle stood up. "Come on. Forget the basketball game. We have to go talk to Katelyn and get this whole thing straightened out."
