To study the performance of a new detector that measures the profile of a high current proton beam of a linear accelerator (50 MeV) and apply it as a tool for the diagnostics of the proton beam. The work resulted in a full report. (second half year: prolongation of contract): 1) Responsible for the reinstallation of a Bunch Length and Velocity Detector, a beam instrumentation device, from a linear heavy ion accelerator to a new test line. Improving documentation including technical layouts for the cabling. 2) Theoretical estimations of wire thermal dynamics in a hadron beam and comparison with experiments.
