THE SIGN BLADES OF LUCAS COUNTY

OLD VERSION

NEW VERSION

The Village of Berkey has only four roads traveling through it and only one of them is signed in any way, OH-295.

Harbor View, located off Bay Shore Road in Oregon, contains only one unsigned street.

Holland, Ohio, a small suburb of Toledo located near Airport Highway and McCord Road, uses blue sign blades with white lettering.

This is an old way of signing what cross road is approaching in Lucas County.  "N CURTICE" is North Curtice Road.  This is near Maumee Bay State Park on Cedar Point Road...and no, Cedar Point Road does not take you to Cedar Point.

Lucas County has also resigned the minor streets as well.  This is in the Reno Beach area of Jerusalem Township, at the corner of Corduroy Road and Rialto Drive.

Arrowhead Park, a business community in Maumee, signs their roads as such.  Note the carved arrowhead in the stone post.  This is common to all sign assemblies in Arrowhead Park.  Corner of Indian Wood Circle and Timber Line Road.

In Maumee, the street names are put onto the mast arms at intersections with traffic lights.  This is at the end of Holland Road at US-20.  A left turn puts you on Reynolds Road, headed toward the Turnpike.  A right turn puts you on Conant Street, headed toward Downtown Maumee.

In Downtown Maumee, these fancy street sign blades are used.  These are three blocks east of Conant Street (US-20/OH-25) at the corner of Elizabeth and East John  Streets.

Monclova Township is using the newer version of sign blades that Lucas County is putting up.

Neapolis, a very small community located south of OH-64 in Providence Township is using the newer version of sign blades that Lucas County is putting up, but also using a very old town name sign.

Taking a cue from Toledo, Oregon signs their major intersections with a larger sign blade.  For a little while, Oregon was using Toledo-made larger sign blades in certain spots.

This is a newer type of sign blade used in Oregon.  This is located on the south edge of Maumee Bay State Park.

This is the older type of sign blade that was used in Oregon, a black blade with white lettering.  This is located just south of Corduroy Road and near the Toledo/Oregon line.

While OH-2 (Navarre Avenue) was under construction, these giant street sign blades were added to traffic light assemblies.  This is at Coy Road and Navarre Avenue.

This is an older sign blade being used in Ottawa Hills.  Ottawa Hills is a small hamlet located between Central Avenue and Bancroft Street, full of very nice and very expensive housing.  This is north of Bancroft Street at Brookside and Talmadge Roads.
