I've always been interested in stock car racing for as long as I can remember.
But as for how I got started I was looking through the paper and seen a Pure Stock car for sale for $500.
And since I had just received my first ever Visa card, I just did a cash advance and bought my first race car.

I've always liked stock car racing. Of course, like everyone else I have always liked to see the wrecks.
But all that changes when you get involved and have to repair your own car.
Another thing is, stock car racing is a contact sport
and our thrills last allot longer than a quarter mile.

I can't really say how fast we go. Everything is done with timming.
But from the stands we sure dont look very fast, but from the divers seat...were flying!
If I may guess at it, I would say we may hit 70 to 75 mph. down the straghts.

My short term goals is to just to be able to finish in the top 5 in points at the end of the season.
Long term goals are to maybe move up a division or two if sponsor money is available.
And of course the goal every Saturday night during the season is to stay off the concrete walls!

My first idol was "The King" Richard Petty. But since then I grew up.
Most all my years of racing I painted my car the colors of the late Dale Earnhardt's 86' Monte. All that has changed in 2002 when, out of respect I retired the scheeme but kept the colors.

Begining in 2002 we went from an automatic transmission to a 3 speed.
The only time we shift is when we enter the track off pit road. Then it's usually shifting from first gear to second and leaving it there.
Unless I get spun, then it's shifting to reverse to get the car turned straight..lol

The fatest time I have run...Um. It was like a 22.70 some seconds. Which by no means is really that fast compared to the other cars out there.
The faster that we got, it always seemed that everyone else picked up a few tenths of a second to. All that should change in the coming season. Were getting the motor and transmission professionally rebuilt.
In 2002 since were going back to Lorain County I hopping I will run in the low 18 second range.

I have won a few races since I started racing.
At Lorain Speedway I have a Feature win, three Heat race wins and a second place Feature trophy.
This past season at Sandusky Speedway I picked up two heat race wins. The first win at Sandusky, another car and I came together coming out of turn 4. This was going to be my first win so I DIDN'T let up one bit! I didn't get to take the checker flag for the victory lap beacuse of a cut left front tire. But a couple weeks later I won a heat with no problem!

A drive shaft loop or hoop as it's sometimes called is a protection device.
It's mainly a piece of steel that loops around the driveshaft and is secured to the floor or some other type of bracing underneath the car.
It's purpose is to protect the driver. One being if the U-Joints in the driveshaft it prevents the the driveshaft from entering the interior of the car and injuring the driver.
Secondly, it also stops a broken driveshaft from diging into the pavement. And at a high speed, if the loop isn't there and the driveshaft hit the ground, your on your way for a wild ride.
Ever seen a car do the Pole Vault??

My father got me into auto racing.
He used to drive a tow truck for a friend of his who owned a gas station years back. I was to young at the time to ride in the truck with him, by the time I was old enough the station had went out of business. But the didnt keep me from going to the races any chance I could.

As far back as I can remember I was maybe 9 or 10 years old when I first got a taste of racing.
I can remember watching the NASCAR races when they were televised every so often with my Dad.
