PROTOTYPES

Above is a set of doors still on the original tree. These are for the Custom Continental. Topper used to assemble the cars like you build a model. I only know of one other set of Conti doors that exsists. A pretty cool piece of Topper history.

Topper JL Prototypes

Here it is. One of the four never produced JLs. This is the Custom Continental in gold with gold interior. Too bad it never saw production. One cool car!

Above are the Topper Continental and Charger prototypes.

From left to right are the Smugler non-painted with white motor and yellow barrell . This car was never rivited and came from a former Topper employee. The next car, which came from the same employee, is a Mirror finish XKE/Jumpin Jag Prototype that was rivited with no interior and had the engine compartment removed to hold the big motor. The next car is a Big Rig that has an electroplated gold body and BASE. I got this car from Jack at Diecast Collecting with Johnny Lightning. Since then I have been told that it is most likely a prototype. I owe you one Jack !

MINI MARX BLAZERS

Prototypes

The above cars were all bought at a Marx toy Corp. auction when the company went out of buisness. They were to go up against Hot Wheels in the late 60's. Notice how similar the wheels are to Hot Wheels Redlines. #37 on the far right has white painted mags and the rest are chrome. I really like the detailed drivers and nice chrome type paint. The mirror finish pink Ford J is really bright, which doesn't show real well in the pic. To see some the Mini Marx cars that were produced check out my other diecast page.
