SCUBA School (SS)

Description: The Water Survival & SCUBA School is an educational program designed to introduce Young Marines to the world of SCUBA Diving and the wonders of the undersea environment.  Instruction includes material to qualify the successful candidate for a PADI Open-Water SCUBA Diving Certification.  Lifeguard Techniques and Lifesaving skill are also taught as part of the schools curriculum.

PREREQUISITE:

APPLICANT MUST BE SWIM QUALIFIED.
* Swim 200-yards without stopping
* Tread Water for 5 minutes with hands above water
* Swim underwater for 50 yards without surfacing
* Run two-miles without stopping
Application Instructions Parent or Legal Guardian must: Complete and sign the Youth Activity Application & Permission Form. Complete and sign the Recreational SCUBA Training Council (RSTC) Medical Statement and Medical History Form. 
Rank: 14 years old on or before 12 April 2003.
Young Marine Private First Class (YM/PFC) on or before 1 October 2002.
One year in the Young Marines on or before 12 April 2003.
Must have participated in two overnight unit activities without incident.
Mature enough to travel.
Must pass the following Pre-Qualification Test administered by the Commanding Officer or designate.
 

COST:

Make payable to: Wildwood Young Marines. Personal Checks are authorized. If the young Marine is selected for this activity, the application fee is non-refundable.

Complete the Application Form and Hold Harmless Agreement.
Turn in the completed forms and application fee to the Adjutant’s office.

DEADLINE:

The application must be completed and turned in to the Adjutant no later than February 15. Late applications may be returned without action.

EQUIPMENT:

The equipment list is not provided on this website.

ADULT STAFF:

Female and Male adult Young Marine Staff members are required.
Complete Adult Application Form and Hold Harmless Agreement and submit no later than February 14.   There is no charge to participating Adult Staff.
