Nothing Matters but Love
As I was walking up the street one day,
I saw the people turn away
I did not understand just why,
But my dear friend was about to cry
I looked at him and asked what was the matter
He lowered his head and said,
"It doesn't matter"
Unsatisfied, we continued around
My friend's eyes stuck to the ground
After a while, I couldn't resist.
I turned him around and grabbed his wrist
"What's wrong?" I asked him, firmly
He turned his head away from me
"You do not understand what it is like, to have something that you can't hide.
Something that turns faces away.
With cold, rude looks and nothing to say.
You my friend have brightened my day,
And because of this I have something to say...
You are gifted in being a friend,
You have helped me out when I reached the end.
Because of this, I hope you can see,
just how much you mean to me.
My outward appearance does not bother you,
And the love you have shown is always true."
We walked along the crowded street,
My buddy waving at the people he'd meet,
And even though he walked with a cane,
His proud soul and face have stayed the same.
