The Queen's Guards - The twenty-seven men of the Queen's Guard, royal sidhe warriors, protect the queen and princesses, as well as serve as the queen's lovers. The queen will usually choose her consort from among her Guard. They're also called the Queen's Ravens. Queen Andais has placed a celibacy geas on her Guard, forbidding them, on pain of death by torture, from having sex with anyone but her. She's allowed Merry access to the Guard recently.
The King's Guard - The twenty-seven women of the King's Guard, royal sidhe warriors, protect the king and princes, as well as serve as the king's lovers. Since Queen Andais has no king, the King's Guard serve Prince Cel.
Doyle - Captain of the Queen's Guard. Called the "Queen's Darkness" and "Baron Sweet-tongue." Bearer of the Painful Flame. His livery is the spider. He has ankle-length black hair, usually worn in a braid, shiny black skin, and dark eyes. His pointy ears are a sign that he is not a pureblood sidhe.
Frost - Second in command of the Queen's Guard. He is taller than Doyle, with ankle-length metallic silver hair, white skin and grey tricolor eyes. His real name has been long forgotten and now he is simply called the Queen's "Killing Frost." He was Queen Andais's Royal Consort for twenty-seven years, eight hundred years ago.
Rhys - Pureblooded sidhe, he just happens to be short at 5'6ft. He was once worshipped as a death god under a different name. He has waist-length wavy, white hair and a tricolor blue eye. His other eye was ruined by goblins during a night of violent sex (he was being punished by Andais) so he wears eye patches. He hates goblins. The most modern of the guards, he likes old movies and has a house and life outside the Court.
Sholto - King of the Sluagh, Lord of That Which Passes Between, Lord of Shadows. He's also called "Shadowspawn" but never to his face. He has tricolor gold eyes, a knee-length white hair and white skin. He's handsome and looks perfectly Seelie - except for the mass of tentacles where other guards have cobblestone abs. He was raised by his father, a nightflyer, and he never saw another sidhe until he was five years old. About 200 years old. He regularly breaks the Queen's celibacy geas with the hags.
Galen - His father was a pixie who was executed before his birth for seducing one of the Queen's handmaidens (his mother). He has short, curly green hair with one long thin braid. He has pale, pale green-white skin, and spring green eyes. A little over 100 years old. He and Merry have loved each other for years, but his political naievete prevents her from making him her consort. He's also magickally weak.
Pasco - Rozenwyn's twin bother, he died by Merry's Hand of Flesh after attempting to assassinate her. He had knee-length pink hair, lilac skin and gold eyes. He had been chosen as the Queen's spy on Merry.
Nicca - He replaced Pasco as the Queen's spy among Merry's guards. His father was a demi-fey with wings. He has beautiful 'wings' tattooed by nature on his back. He is extremely terrified of the Queen, and fearful. He's nice but weak, although he's a competent enough guard. Merry would not make him her consort because he'd be a poor king.
Barinthus - 6,000 years old, he was once worshipped as a sea god. Very much into the political scene, he was Merry's father's closest adviser and friend. He is nearly 7ft tall and has alabaster skin, and hair the color of the oceans, blue, grey and blue-black. He has a second pair of eyelid over his blue eyes. He also has webbing between his fingers. He is Merry's closest ally at Court.
Conri - A childhood friend and support of Prince Cel, he is one of the most courtwise guards. He is also one of the best swordsmen. He's tall, dark and handsome. He attempted to challenge Galen to a duel just to spite Merry.
Eamon - Andais' current Royal Consort. He has white skin and ankle-length white hair.
Sithney - one of the guards who did go to help Merry and co. when they were attacked by the roses.
Siobhan - Captain of the King's Guard, she was once a death goddess. She can still kill with the touch of her skin. She's small, just a little taller than Merry. She has dull white skin, white hair and filmed over, dull grey eyes. She's one of the most feared people at Court. Her protection of Cel is one of the factors that make him so powerful.
Rozenwyn - Second in command of the King's Guard. She, along with her twin brother, Pasco, ambushed Merry in an assassination attempt. Both were destroyed by Merry's Hand of Flesh. She had pink hair, lilac skin and golden eyes. When Merry was little, she thought Rozenwyn was lovely. She left a hand-shaped scar on Merry's chest after a duel between them years ago.
