2015 MIDDLE COUNTRY RETIREES' ASSOCIATION 2016

APRIL 28, 2016 MCRA-MINUTES-MCRA APRIL 28, 2016

The meeting was called to order by President Michael Daly with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for deceased members.

.

Joan O’Grady announced that we had four new members Ann Randall, Lucille Fuchs, Adrianne Keller, Barbara Manginella, and Kathleen Ross. She also received word that Jeanne Nagel and Tony Battota had passed away. Gladys read the minutes taken from the October 2015 meeting and they were seconded and accepted. Josephine advised us of the financial statement for our checking, savings and certificate accounts.

Marie informed us that we were getting ready for our June luncheon which would be held at Figaro’s on June 14th. We held our luncheon there last year and everyone enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. She advised that the food will be served family style and they were charging us the same price we paid last year. We were asked to fill out the reservation form and send in our check for the luncheon as soon as possible. We were informed that we could also invite friends and/or family if we wished.

Joan handed out a brochure from the Port Jefferson ferry that listed a number of trips and commented that the ferry is less expensive than the bus.

Michael informed us that he will be giving $1000.00 scholarships to Newfield H.S. on May 12th and to Centereach H.S. on May 24th.

We were advised that a Centereach H.S. teacher Jonathan Galfano’s wife passed away and the family is in great financial difficulty. A discussion followed as to what amount our organization would give. A suggestion was made to give $250.00 now and perhaps we could give another $250.00 at Christmas. Victor Visconti then made a motion to give $500.00 at this time because the family was in great need of money to meet their financial needs. Joan O’Grady felt that $500.00 was too much because we do give monies throughout the year and we need to keep enough money in our savings in the event of other happenings that may take place. She commented that we receive requests through out the year and some of these ay require legal action and we need to be assured that we have enough funs to take care of any surprise that may arise. She felt that we would be setting a precedent if we give $500 at this time but that we could possibly give $250 now and review the situation at a later date. Michael then called for a vote on he $500 amount and it was accepted and approved

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting and was seconded.

Respectfully yours,

Gladys Gregnoli-Meier
