The meeting was called to order by President Michael Daly with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for deceased members. Michael asked all new members to identify themselves and how long they had been retired
Gladys read the September 2015 minutes and they were seconded and accepted. .
Joan announced that Rose Tysz had received a notice from NYSUT who wanted to know how many people we have in our organization. She informed us that we have never participated because we had been informed that you had to be a teacher and our organization welcomes all retired employees of Middle Country School District. Joan advised that we should get in touch with them to find out if they would now include all retirees as this is the only way we would give this matter our consideration.
Josie Serra and Joan O’Grady went to Figaros which is right next to Mamas in the Centereach Shopping Mall to find out what they would offer and the price they would charge for our holiday party. They quoted us a price of $26.00 which would include 4 entrees, house salad, coffee and cake. The place is large enough so that you can walk around and a pay bar is available. A notice will be included in our mailing and we would urge you to fill out the form, include your check and send it in as soon as possible
Michael stated that our website now has 700 pages and he would like us to become familiar with all that it contains. He announced that he will be showing pages of our website at our future meetings so that we can be made aware of how much information is included on our website
Marie and Joan discussed the possibility of taking $2000.00 out of our saving accounts and adding it to our $18.000 certificate so that the certificate would now be worth $20,000.
