Minutes of April 25 2013The meeting was called to order by President Michael Daly with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for deceased members.
Michael asked if we had any new members present and Eleanor Reed from Selden Middle School introduced herself.
The April 25th minutes were read, accepted and approved.
Joan O’Grady advised all present that monthly meetings will now be held four times a year on the fourth Thursday of the month in April, May, September and October. We will still have two luncheons in June and December. Our upcoming June luncheon will be held on Tuesday, June 25th from 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Michael advised that if a meeting were to be cancelled it would be posted on the website. Members could also call Michael, Joan or the Center.
Joan O’Grady advised that she needs a corresponding secretary to help with the post cards that are sent out to advise members of an upcoming meeting. She asked for a volunteer and Peggy Loucks volunteered to take the job.
Michael commented that we should all be very proud of our Association which now has a membership of 394. He also advised that the recipients of the $1000 scholarship award for this year were Emma Agostini, Centereach H.S. and Jase Panegianco, Newfield H.S.
Joan received an e-mail from Jim Collins, a financial advisor, who would be happy to speak to our members and also added that he would pay for lunch.
Joan called Staples to let them know what a horrible mess they provided for the most recent mailing. She told them that there wasn’t a secretary anywhere who would ever send out a finished product in this condition. As a result of Joan’s phone call Staples refunded $243.00. the shape Staples sent out our last mailing
Michael thanked everyone for coming. A motion to end the meeting was made and seconded.
