Michael presented the MCRA scholarship at Newfield H.S. and stated that we ranked very high in the listing of the scholarships. Michael used the opportunity to advise the audience about our organization. On June 6th Michael will make the scholarship presentation at Centereach H.S. and invited all of us to attend.
Rose Tycz gave the financial report and a motion to accept the report was made and seconded and approved. Rose also wanted to encourage those employees who have not paid their dues to do so. A suggestion was made that we entice new members by offering to pay their dues for the first year. Michael asked those present if they agreed and the majority were not in favor of this suggestion.
Michael commented that he would like to have more attendance at our meetings. A discussion followed with a number of suggestions as to how we could accomplish this goal.
Anne Bedard advised that she could no longer be in charge of the monthly luncheons because of personal pressures and she hoped that someone else would take her place so that these luncheons could continue.
Michael announced that we will have our election of officers at our June 9th luncheon The luncheon will begin at 12:15 and Anne announced that she will arrive at 11:00 a.m. to set up for the Chinese auction. She stated that we have 25 gifts for the auction and advised that if anyone still wished to donate they could bring the gift with them when they come to the luncheon. We will also have a 50/50 drawing to help offset the cost of the luncheon. Ruth Greenberg announced that so far only 50 people are attending the luncheon which is about 50% of the amount that usually attends. Michael thanked Anne and Ruth for the splendid job they do with this venture.
Michael suggested that we have more than four meetings a year. He suggested that the officers get together in the summer to discuss ideas for the future.
Michael advised those present that Louis Marcoccia, Receiver of Taxes, was in the building to answer any questions we may have in this regard.
A motion to end the meeting was made, seconded and approved.
