NEWS FROM HOME: JUNE, 2005
Where everyday is Friday.

… School has closed for the summer and we are all winding down for a slow July and August; and boy how we all need that. The first budget here at Middle Country failed by a 3 to 1 vote but passed on June 20, 2005. We are on a roll again.
… Nancy DeSalvo has a trip planned to Connecticut and Massachusetts in August, 2005 that still has a few seats available. You can reach her at 631-732-5688. It will run August 29 & 30, 2005 and the cost is $245 per person including 4 meals and a one night stay at the Mohegan Sun Casino. More information available on our website.
… There is a new Retirees’ Lunch Group that has been set up by Anne Bedard (CHS) that meets once a month at different restaurants. The dates and locations have already been set so contact Anne at 631-582-4268 if you are interested. Or check the website for dates and places.
... There is a change to our e-mail address. Please take note:
mteachd@hotmail.com
… Our Wall of Remembrance is moving along very well and we need for you all to look it over and make sure we have all our deceased members included and their names spelled correctly. If you know of anyone for certain who is deceased and not on the list, please call Joan O’Grady at 631-732-3447. Included in the original mailing of this partiular issue of "NEWS FROM HOME" was an updated list. Michael Daly has approached the school district to have them agree to a more permanent electronic monument possibly located at the Administration Building and district seems interested.
… The recipients of our two high school scholarships are Megan Woolard from CHS and Vivek Zilpelwar from NHS. Michael Daly did his usual wonderful presentation at the ceremony for our organization.
- Sad news onces again town. Helen Heinrich, our intrepid reading teacher has passed on and will be sorely missed. We will always remeber her charm and enthusiasm. A memorial serivce has been planned for Mid July and if you are interested, please contact Judy Hallock at 631-689-1619...
… Our June luncheon went off without a hitch with many new members attending. Once again we had close to 100 people there and everyone gabbed their heads off. A lot of laughing and joking, oohs and aaahs. Michael Daly was surprised with the President’s Award this year. WELL DONE! Watch for our holiday luncheon on December 6, 2005.
… There are quite a few breakfast clubs sprouting up all over the district by separate personnel from different schools. One in particular that was started by Jennie Addessi is in the Centereach Diner every Wednesday morning at 9 am. Come on in and see what is going on. There’s a Red Hat Club in this breakfast, too.
- Plenty of new retirees this year and all will be encouraged to join our Association. We were all very close in MCCSD and it is nice to know we all still care about each other.
… Our officers remain the same with the exception of Treasurer. Rose(Bierman) Tysz is our new Treasurer. Thank you Ruth Greenberg for all your service to the MCRA.
... Your 2005-2006 renewal application is enclosed. For your convenience, we have printed the information we have for you in our database. Please correct any errors appearing on the label and return to the address listed. Also, help us to increase our membership numbers by referring any interested retirees to our website for an application of membership.
… Have a great summer and don’t forget to keep in touch with us and Liz Jeffrey of the Employee Benefit Office, Middle Country School District: 631-285-8047.
