The northern sidings abutting the Yellowstone Boulevard overpass offer relatively easily access and egress from the Dead Tracks. The slope, at least as of June 2000, was relatively growth free and unfenced.

The ground beneath the southbound tracks, however, was badly eroded, leaving the tracks suspended in the air at points. These washouts would get worse to the south of Yellowstone.
