2002 Mets Projected Lineup
Mets Projected Starting Pitchers

The Mets are currently in a rebuilding phase. After a few disappointing seasons, the Mets are looking to get younger and dump salary. Kaz Matsui and Mike Cameron are the newest additions to the Mets. Jose Reyes will make the move to second base from shortstop, hopefully without hurting his growth. I don't agree with this move and would have been happier to see them sign a free agent such as Fernando Vina to a one year deal, rather than to sign Matsui. This would open up second base for a prospect such as Danny Garcia, and would also leave some money to go after a top notch pitcher or a Valdimir Guerrero caliber player. Unfortunatley, the Mets may still be 2 or 3 years away from seriously contending, so now we're stuck with Kaz Matsui(hopefully not the secdond coming of Tsuyoshi Shinjo) and a pitching staff one ace short of one ace.
As for the Mets starting rotation, I belive that Steve Trachsel should be the #1 starter, as he has been their most reliable starter over the past 2 seasons. Leiter should be the #2, with Glavine pitching in the 3rd slot. This would make Glavine more productive, not being matched up against aces, while Trachsel tends to pitch to the level of his competition.
