Day 21
Monday July 5, 2021
Got up and got ready for the day and hit the machines. Pretty smooth session with quads and dealt winners. Jimbo & Katy arrived. I was plugging along and hovering +/- $100 or so the whole time. I was chatting with Jimbo and looked away from the machine and turned back and there was a royal on my screen. Certainly wasn't expecting that on a 2 card hold. Played a bit more and cashed out with a $700 win.
We were going to go to lunch but it was a bit early so played more on a different bank. Up and down session and I hit a few quads but between quads was not good. Managed to only lose 50 bucks here and quit for a lunch break.
I grabbed a grilled cheese and some chips at the deli and we went up to Jimbo & Katy's suite to eat.
I left Rampart and went downtown around 1:30. The plan today is to go to Four Queens. The same offer from June applies with $250 free play plus the opportunity to earn $10 for every 100 points. There is also the $150 Hugo's dinner credit that I'll be making use of tonight with Yahtzee Mike and Camela.
I played 9/6 jacks for dollars. It was not good. Lots of nothing hands and a killer in flush 4. I was also down over $200 before my first full house. I switched machines down $300. The next machine was even worse with the flush 4 hold. Not only was I getting an inordinate amount of them, none of them were filling in. The meter dropped down to double digits from a $500 buy in when things smoothed out. I hit a few quads and full houses and magically hit a flush 4 and jumped up like I won the Stanley Cup.
During this time Mike jumped up and yelled “fuck yeah”. I look over and he's got a $1 royal sitting on his screen for 4k!
Back on my machine I built the meter all of the way back up to almost even and then it reversed again. No exaggeration, I probably had between 20-30 flush 4 holds and whiffed on every one of them. The quads dried up and I was down $500. I switched machines again and picked up where I left off being down another $150 or so before I had some better luck going 3 for 3 of flush 4 and hitting a quad and some full houses. I was up a bit and dropped back to even on the rebuy when dinner time arrived.
I stopped by the players club collect my comp slip for Hugo's Cellar. My dinner reservation was at 5:30pm at Hugo's Cellar. Everything was in order and we were seated promptly. I had the Rib Eye. So good. One of the better steaks I've ever had in town. I got a piece of chocolate cake to go and as promised an extra slice for Katy to bring back.
The bill was $237 and covered with my $150 voucher and Mike's voucher.
After we rolled out of Hugo's it was back to the machines. I still had about 1/3 of my action to go. This session was the complete opposite of the earlier part of the day. Flush 4 was filling in one after another, full houses were coming and quads were raining down. I was in the $650-$750 range on the meter (in for $1000) at this point with under 100 points to go. If I could just hover I'd be happy. Things were going well and the meter was growing. I looked up at the meter and had enough points, played one more hand and hit a quad to wrap up the play with the meter at $960 in a major come back. I'll happily take minus $40 on a session like this.
I went over to the players club to have the bonus free play added to my account and collected $150 cash back from a few trips where I didn't collect it.
It was time for Mike and Camela to get ready for their trip home tomorrow so we said our good byes and off they went.
I ran my free play through quarter jacks or better and cashed out with $800 cash thanks to a bunch of dealt straights, flushes, and full houses. I also hit 4 quads including a set of dealt aces. Ugh! Where were those when I was playing 10 play 8/5 bonus at Rampart? This might be a record for running free play through with exception of when Dee hit a royal on free play years ago.
I left the Four Queens and came back to Rampart. I delivered Katy's Cake to their room and we discussed the day for a while.
I ended the night up here in the room with some TV.
Total win/loss for the day + $1,633
Total Comps for the day $1,008
