Day 10
Monday August 24, 2020
I had to get up pretty early today. I got ready to roll and headed out of the Silver Legacy around 8:30am. My first stop was to gas up the rental car. Gas prices are bullshit up here coming in at $3.47 a gallon.

Next up was returning the car. Things were quick here. I really like that the rental car facility is right here at the airport in Reno and there is no shuttle needed like in Las Vegas.

My flight back to Las Vegas today is with Southwest again. This flight was also a part of the $39 one way fare sale they ran back in June. I used points for this flight as well. Like on the flight here I only paid the security tax. I'd already checked in yesterday but had to drop the luggage off. Checking that in went very well.

Security was very short and went well too.

I found my gate and waited for boarding to begin. When I checked in yesterday I got boarding pass A 45.

This is flight 839 non-stop to Las Vegas scheduled to depart at 11:10am with a flight time of 75 minutes arriving at 12:25pm. The captain made an announcement that this flight was only going to take 60 minutes.

The flight was quick and smooth. I love the short flight to Vegas from Reno compared to the flight from NY to Vegas. It's still creepy here with so many gates and areas of the airport not being used.

When I got off the plane I went right down to baggage claim. The suitcase was waiting for me. I figured it would be because I saw it actually get unloaded and put on the cart.

Next up the rental car shuttle. I never saw such a long line for the rental car shuttle. It actually ran from door #7 at baggage claim all of the way past door 11 and was still growing.

Today's rental is with Avis. Rates for this leg of the trip held steady and pretty high the whole time I've been checking. About 2 weeks ago I found what I wouldn't normally consider a great rate but it was for a standard elite SUV. This was showing up cheaper than most of the other cars and with a discount code, coupon, and the prepay option got even cheaper. I don't normally pre pay this far out from the trip but I locked this in a just over $20/day base. All in for $644. A little higher than I like but it's an upgraded car and I planned on doing a fair amount of driving on this portion of the trip. One thing this did was eliminate me have to look at rental car rates every day until the trip.

When I got to the rental car center they had my name up on the board. My car was in space F10. They had assigned me a Nissan Pathfinder. It had 1900 miles on it and was in brand new condition. I gave the car a quick inspection, loaded my things in and I was on my way.

When I left the rental car center I quick lunch stop at Jack in the Box and got a few tacos, jr cheeseburger and a chocolate shake. I used my handy gift card that Yahtzee Mike gave me way back when. Still has a balance on it but it's getting low at 13¢. Thanks for lunch Mike!

On to the hotel from there. The next 3 days will be spent at Paris on the Strip. I wasn't originally planning on spending any time on the strip but about 2 weeks ago I got an e-mail from my host inviting me to a bike promo they were doing. I'm guaranteed a bike or $200 in free play. I can also play up to get better bikes, scooters and even a Harley or higher free play. I looked over the offer and even with the garbage video poker Caesars Entertainment offers, I can make this work and still go do the other plays I was planning on doing before I got this offer.

I checked in at the VIP line being 7*. Everything was in order and I was off to room 2425P. This room is at the end of the hallway and has a king bed with nightstands, a dresser, work desk, couch and TV. It has a view of pool, Bellagio and Caesars out of one window. Planet Hollywood, Cosmo and south strip out of the other.

The bathroom has been a bath tub, shower stall and of course there's a toilet and vanity.

I got my things organized and it was time to hit the casino. I opted for Bally's and found some garbage 100 play to play for 2¢. My plan was to earn 1500 tier and advance to the next level of the offer. That would push my free play up to $500. I'd go farther but the next level isn't until 8000 tier and I'm not really interested in running that much action.

The session was so-so. I hit deuces a few times and a royal. Even with those I still lost like $250. I switched to quarter 10 play and it was worse. I only got 2k in action and dropped a few more bills. Ouch.

I wandered around playing some penny games at Bally's and Paris. Some ups and some downs but the ups were really good. I hit a huge bonus on a machine that really helped offset the VP losses from earlier.

For dinner I went to Tequila Taqueria. I tried the steak tacos. The meal comes with refried beans and rice.

For the day between Bally's and Paris I did just over 1000 points. That leaves about 500 to go to reach the level of the promo.

I ended the night up here in the room with some TV and then some sleep.

Total coin in for the day $8,950
Total win/loss for the day - $312
Total Comps for the day $83
