This is my cheerleading page. I noticed there are not many cheerleading pages on the internet, that actually have everything, including stuff like, cheers, jumps, tips, good routine songs, everything you ever wanted in cheerleading, and even more! This page will probebly help a bunch of people out.
Okay, I am 13, and I have been in cheerleading for 4 years now. I have also, been in 2 squads, basketball and football. My first year in cheerleading, I did basketball, then I continued it for about 2 years. I got a little bored in basketball tryouts, because everybody who tried out, made the squad. I really wanted to face something more challenging, so I tried out for football cheerleading.
That summer, I practiced my little heart out to try to do a backflip, to amuse the judges. I didn't get to finish, but I just did a front flip instead, and that amused them enough. So I made it. Yes, the sport I had been wanting to do since 3rd grade.
You had to do alot of work though. Practice, Practice, and Practice. Every Monday and Wednesday, we had to go to the park for about a month, which is about 8 days we had to learn 75 cheers (since I was new) I finally got them all straight, and I felt like a pro to it. When I got there on the field and ran out on the track, I felt really nervous. So when they announced the Pembroke Cheerleaders, I did one of my front flips. Later on, the coach said I couldnt do them because I came really close to hitting my head on the ground. (oops)
I made it as an Giles High School 8th Grade Cheerleader. Well, when I went to cheerleading camp, I got nominated as an All-American-Cheerleader!!!! But I didn't make it : 0(. My jumps stunk. I had to do 3 consecutive jumps in a row. *Really Hard* I guess I'll just keep practicing it till next year!
Well, anyways, theres another thing I want to point out. I know everybody thinks cheerlaeading is for the popular girls, that are skinny and have a good shape. Nu-uh. There were some great cheerleaders on my team, and about 2 out of the 8-12 that made it, were sort of overweight. But did that stop them? Nope. You just have got to be really preppy, I mean really. She kept her head leveled, her body stiff, her armes flexible, and what do you know? She made the team. She was very preppy, and I was really proud of her. So, if you have a friend that is afraid to try out, just help them a little with the cheers, and encorauge them to try out, trust me, if they follow those steps, they'll have the best thing in thier life happen, cheerleading.
