Parasites are Spywares sitting in your PC, COLLECTING AND TRANSMITTING PERSONNEL information.  Firewalls and antiviral will not detect spyware. A local IDS will detect these, the network IDS will ignore spyware. They slow down your connection and that is the earliest symptom. They can be seen running in the task manager, occupy RAM & use your bandwidth.
The newest threat to your privacy is Parasites or Spyware they are in every PC. I started noticing slow internet activity on my laptop. Like someone else was using my bandwidth. Thinking it must be a overloaded cable connection from Road Runner. I was wrong when I scanned for spyware I found 42 different programs hogging my connection and competing for bandwidth. I have updated my PC regularly, run virus scans diligently and used a firewall at multiple levels. These parasites alluded all the safety measures.  Finally removed them with antispyware software. Some had to be removed manually and one escaped and alluded me only to be caught red handed by intrusion detection. This one was  Aornum.exe.

Aornum may be called a trojan spyware created by a company called iwon .It reports back info from your machine to their company. it should be destroyed and the company should be boycotted as it causes many problems such as not being able to delete it as it starts up over and over. what you want to do is restart your computer in safe mode, go to program files in explorer, and delete any and all references to aornum such as ornum, aornum, aornum1.bin, and aornum.exe, also remove it from your start up processes and anywhere else you can find it, using the find files in your windows operating system.

If you surf Iwon you are carrying AORNUM. srchasst.exe, trickler.exe To see if your browser has spyware just click on the main parasite Test on the right column.

IWon says it collects user data and shares it with third-party marketing organizations unless users have opted out of such information sharing. IWon says it also uses the personal data to send "targeted e-mail" to users

While this may be a great concept, the downside is that the advertising companies also install additional tracking software on your system, which is continuously "calling home", using your Internet connection and reports  data to the about you. While according to the privacy policies of the companies, there will be no sensitive or identifying data collected from your system and you shall remain anonymous, it still remains the fact, that you have a "live" server sitting on your PC that is sending information about you and your surfing habits to a remote location.
