Fear what you do not know: Insane Wrestling League
| Home |
The Insane Wrestling League is a backyard wrestling federation based in Hacienda Heights, California, held in the arena known as Gilbert's Backyard. The wrestlers meet every Friday for I-TV and take one Friday every month for their "pay-per-views' and their wrestling shows. The "IWL" started long before Insane Wrestling League was born, back in 1999 and even before that. It was known as "F--- The World Wrestling" and featured only three wrestlers: Hurricane (now Gutter Gil), Hardcore Joe and D.C. They would wrestle every afternoon after Kickboxing practice in Joe's garage. Towards the end of 1999 the trio began looking to expand their wrestling and had a ring built. Their rival, who at this time attempted to start what was known as the Genocidal Wrestling League, is now known as Mike Gotch. His idea fell through, but he was quickly the first recruit to join the IWL, who's name was derived from the GWL. As is now the Genocidal title. January 27th, year 2000, signified the birth of the IWL. An impromptu match between D.C. and Mike started the IWL off. The group started off with the four regulars: That Guy (Mike), D.C., Hardcore Joe, and CyCo B!TcH (Gutter Gil). There were also many people making one time, sometimes a few more, appearances though. Matches were ridiculously long, sometimes up to an hour, with maybe ten different people interferring at a time. But, during the Spring of 2000, the IWL exploded with a barrage of potential talent. The top of this group were Bane, Arc Angel. And in Summer 2000 two guys now known as the Amazing Jeckel Brothers entered in into the IWL. The Joser Boys were also some major, but short-lived, stars. October saw another explosion as new talent appeared. Hellraiser, Jack N. Off, Madman, Nurse T&A, and Xanatos were the top emergees. January of 2001 saw the addition of Nightstalker. An "incident" took place just before the Anniversary show and the IWL was forced to occasionally wrestle at the Mike Arena until things calmed down. March 8, 2001 saw the end of the IWL. However, the rebirth of the IWL is looming, and you never know what is going to happen then... The IWL is based on the reality of backyard wrestling, where wrestling is more praised than hardcore is. Training is held whenever wrestlers feel they need to improve. Learning to bump, perform moves successfully, and develop characters are just some of the things IWL wrestlers learn at these meets. The majority of the IWL roster attends Glen A. Wilson High School, also located in Hacienda Heights, and one need but ask around to locate where the wrestlers hang out and who they are.
