Increasing Canvas Size
This is a tutorial to show you how to increase
the canvas size on an animation.
This tutorial will show you how to increase the canvas size on an aimation so you can add your text to it. Here is the rabbit I used just click on it and you can save it. For this tutorial, you will need to use the animation shop that comes with PSP, or a similar program and PSP. I am using PSP 7. If you are using PSP 6, this should be the same.
First you open your animation in animation shop. You will have to save the frames separately so you can open them In PSP 7. Click on the first frame and it will have a border around it.
Go to File/Save Frame As
Select the folder you want to save it in and save it as a .gif by using the following setting. Click on the arrow to be able to select the .gif setting.
Now click on the second frame and save it in the same way. Do this for however many frames your picture has. It will name the frames and number them for you. Just save them as a .gif.
Now open up PSP 7 and go to the folder where you saved the frames and open them all. In this case, there are only 2 frames.
Next, select the eyedropper tool
Right click on the background.
You will have to do the exact thing to both frames so they will line up. Now before we go on, we need to decide where you want to place your text. In this instance I am choosing the bottom. You can make adjustments if you want it elsewhere when you see how we figure what we need. In the bottom right corner, you will see the size of your picture. The first number is the width and the second number is the length. As an example, the one I am using is 85x140. I want to add some canvas to the bottom only, so I have to add some to the length. My length is 140 and I am going to add 20 to the bottom only making the length 160. The width will stay the same. Go to Image/Canvas Size

The top part of the box that comes up now will show the dimensions with the new width which in this case will still be 85 and new length which will now be 160. The bottom part of the box shows the image placement. Here is where you can decide if you want to add the same color background all the way around or on only one side. In this instance I choose to only add it to the bottom. I want my figure to center horizontally, so that box is checked. The next box says to center vertically. I don't want to center it because I only want some on the bottom, so this box isn't checked. Next I type in 20 in the bottom box. If you want to add some background all the way around the figure evenly, then you check both boxes and decide how much you want and you would need to adjust the height and width up in the dimensions. If you need more help with this, please email me.

Now you have that done on one frame. Go ahead and do it to all the frames you have for your picture. When you choose Images/Canvas Size the next time, it will show the dimensions you already used, so you don't have to adjust it everytime. When you are finished changing all the frames, save then by clicking on File/Save. It will save the new size. Now you will have to open the animation shop. Go to File/animation wizard
Use the following settings and then click on Next.
Use the following settings and then click on Next.
Use the following settings and then click on Next.
Use the following settings and then click on Next. If you don't want the animation to run over and over, don't check the top box and choose how many times you want the animation to run in the next box. The bottom number is set at 25. This number can be adjusted if you want the animation to move faster or slower.
Click on Add Image and go to the folder where you saved the 2 separate frames. Add them both here by holding down the CTRL button while you click on both of them. Then click on next.
When the next box comes up, just click on finish. Now your new animation is open in animation shop and you can add your text to it. You can use my tutorial if you like. It is at
