Taroist.com Site Review

Taroist.com is quite an interesting site, the creative brainchild of visionary Allan Armstrong. It is a promotion for his Tarot CD (Taroist), which is an audio presentation of the Tarot in storytelling form, over a background of Celtic music. Allan describes his work as: "The astrological progression of the four elements and the spiritual journey on the tree of life."

The reviews on the site are mixed - some felt the CD a very basic and amateurish attempt at presenting the Tarot in audio form, some felt that new ground had been broken. As is the way of all things, perhaps reality lies in the middle ground.

I look forward to reviewing this CD, as storytelling is a very strong tool for maintaining cultural values and passing down knowledge. At the least, the Tarot in audio form may be of help to those having difficulty grasping the story that Tarot really is.

Available on the site for downloading are MP3 sound- bites from each of the four suits of the Tarot. They are wonderful to listen to, with graphics that play along with them (I am new at this - it took me a few moments to see what the buttons labled ambiance would do!).

Allan has gone into some depth on his site to describe his views on the Tree Of Life - this page alone is well worth a visit to this site. He describes his storyteller as being veiled in feminine form signifying the union of male and female principles. In his "Intro. To Karrlan" Allan very nicely goes into the background of this myth.

Intro. to the Tree of Life (click on Allan Armstrong at the bottom of the first page on this site to reach this) gives a very nice explanation of what the Major Arcana and the Tree of Life are all about. From this page, click on "Prophets" for a very brief history of the origins of Tarot.

All in all - an interesting, provocative site that has much to offer the Tarot world.
