Five Place Rune Decision Making Spread

Five Place Decision Making Rune Spread

Spreads, in any divination system, refer to the manner in which the tools (Tarot cards, Runes etc) are laid out. The spread that I am presenting here has been taken from Principles of Runes by Freya Aswynn. This spread is used specifically in decision making.

The pattern for the spread is as follows: Card #1 is placed inthe center. Card #2 is placed to the left of Card #1. Card #3 is placed underneath Card #1. Card #4 is placed above Card #1, and Card #5 is placed to the right of Card #1.

The positions are defined as follows:

Card #1: Represents the Querant
Card #2: Represents the immediate past
Card #3: unseen or hidden aspects
Card $4: higher spiritual dimension/ advice from divine source
Card #5: Represents the answer to the question

The question meditated on was whether the effect that an out of state move would have on the querant. The following Runes were drawn:

1. Isa
2. Nauthiz
3. Jera
4. Mannaz (reversed)
5. Dagaz

Isa represents the Querant in this spread. Isa is Standstill and/or Withdrawal. The Querant is being asked to take some "down time", as no action will move them forward at this moment. There is no help available anywhere - it is time to be still and trust in the process.

Nauthiz represents the Querant's immediate past. Nauthiz is Constraint, Necessity and Pain. This is very much a case of learning how to deal with our "shadow" selves, that part of our psyche that we often choose not to address. We need to look at this closely to see where our growth has been held back. There is work to be done on yourself - do whatever is necessary to bring harmony into all parts of your life.

Jera represents the unseen or hidden aspects of the Querent's question. It is information that they are not aware of at this time. Jera is Harvest, Fertile Season, and the time span of One Year. The seed for the physical move (the Querant's question) has been planted, and needs time to be allowed to grow. To see progress, you need to exhibit patience.

Mannaz (reversed) represents the spiritual dimension to this question. Mannaz refers to the self. The relationship that the Querant needs to develop right now is one with themselves. Reversed, Mannaz indicates that the Querant needs to turn inwards for their answers.

Dagaz represents the answer to the Querant's question. Dagaz is Breakthrough, Transformation and Day. Dagaz indicates that the time is right for transformation. In this case, it would indicate that the move to another state would bring certain things to the Querant's life - but not necessarily that which they are holding in their mind. Achievement and prosperity are also indicated by this Rune.

Our Querant has put a great deal of thought into the move that they are asking about. The seed has been planted for some time now, and they have more than likely been going through life situations that have forced them to take a good look at themselves, their lives, where they are coming from and where they are going. By turning inwards for their answers, they are guaranteeing a prosperous future.

Thank you for visiting my Rune room. May your day be Blessed.
