I guess you are!
The graphics on this page are drawn by me (except for the animated Mickey down bottom) and are the copyright of the Disney company.
One of my favourite pastimes is drawing and painting. There's hardly a time when I don't have a paintbrush or pencil in my hand. My favourite things to draw are animals. I can sit there and watch them for hours on end. I would have liked to include them here but they are rather large files and would have taken forever to load (not to mention they are too big to fit in my scanner, Simba down bottom is partially cut off) I decided to put only Disney character sketches here to keep with the theme and to keep it simple. My ideal job would be to have a creative position within the Disney company and maybe someday I will.
A Little About Me
I started with the Disney company in 1993 as a part time castmember. I guess I started working there because I've always wanted to be a part of something that was such a big part of me. I grew up on Disney and it was always in my life.
During my years with Disney I have gotten to do some pretty cool things. One of them was being picked to work Pocahontas in Central Park, NYC. What an experience that was! Thousands of people EVERYWHERE and little old me on crowd control (thank goodness for the two 6ft cops that were stationed by me :o) We got to watch Lebo M practice the day before and some of the other performers too. The one thing that stands out the most in my memory is not all the celebrities, no food or the fact that we ended up not getting home til 4am due to a bus breakdown, but one little boy and his grandmother.
While I was on line entertaining the crowd and enjoying the music this woman approachd me and asked if I worked for Disney.
(Yeah I know one of our favourite questions but I let it go this time because it was the first time that we had on what is now our current costumes)
Anyway I said yes and asked if I could help her with something. She replied that her grandson wanted to meet someone that worked for Disney very badly so I told her to bring him over. About 10 minutes later she comes back with her grandson and I introduce myself to him. I'll never forget his cute little smile when I told him that I worked with Mickey Mouse. He couldn't talk back to me and at times I don't think he understood what I was saying but he knew Mickey Mouse and anytime I said those words the smile would come back. I ended up introducing him to the castmembers around me and before we said goodbye he gave me a hug. I didn't even get to know his name but he and kids like him are my dearest Disney memory. Isn't that what we all work here for? (ok most of us) It definitely makes you special, don't you think?
I have had a lot of great experiences here. I have met a lot of great castmembers too.(not to mention a few guests!) and as long as Disney will have me I think that I'll stay.
If you would like to send me a note about your fondest Disney memory or would just like to comment on this web site, drop me a line.
