Chapter 23

Brian's View

"Please don't call Daddy! Please! She's very nice! She's my best friend!" Courtney cried hanging onto my leg and looking up at me with big eyes filled with tears.

"Please Brian, don't," Tiffany said looking at me. Leighanne was on the couch holding her arm and looking at the ground. I looked at all of them and then saw Jason walk slowly around the corner. He was looking at everyone curiously.

"What is going on?" he asked. He then saw Courtney, the babies and Leighanne and got wide eyed.

"It's OK," Tiffany said to him. "Leighanne brought them back to us."

"But...but...she's mean! She wouldn't do that!" Jason exclaimed.

"But she did," Tiffany said.

"That's it, I'm calling the police," I said hitting the buttons on the phone.

"DADDY! NOOOOO! DON'T!!!" Courtney screamed shaking my leg.

"Brian! Please don't!" Tiffany pleaded. Leighanne was just looking up at me sadly. I kept dialing the number not listening to anybody around me. I made up my mind...Leighanne wasn't going to get off easy.

The Next Morning

"Good Morning baby," I said kissing Tiffany's cheek. She didn't even look at me...she just got up and walked to the bathroom shutting the door behind her. I sat up in bed and took in a deep breath. What did I do wrong?

I got out of bed and walked over to the bathroom door. I knocked on it and said, "Tiffany? Honey are you mad at me?"

I got no answer. Soon after she came out of the bathroom and walked right past me.

"Sweetie why are you ignoring me?" I asked walking over to her. She was on her knees rummaging through the closet. She looked up at me like I was stupid and then went back to trying to find some shoes.

"Tiffany please tell me what's wrong," I said. She stopped and got up facing me.

"What's wrong? You want to know what's wrong?" she asked putting her hands on her hips.

"Yes! I want to know why my wife is ignoring me," I said looking at her.

"Think about last night Brian," she said.

"You're mad about that?" I asked.

"You think!? I told you not to call the police Brian! Courtney didn't want you to do it either but no! You had to do it because you thought she deserved a harsh punishment! She brought back our kids Brian..." she said looking up at me.

"I know that..."

"Then why did you do it? Why did you call the police?"

"I couldn't just let her go that easily..."

"Why not Brian? Tell me why not! Leighanne has just made our lives much easier!"

"But before that she ruined them!" I said getting angry. She was starting to frustrate me. Why was she being on her side?

"Brian can't you see what she did for us!?"

"She brought our children back, that's it!"

"That's it!? You think it was just some little thing that she has done for us!? Well, get it through you're head Mr. Littrell that Leighanne has probably saved both of our lives from a life long depression! How can you be so insensitive toward her!? Sure she has made our lives miserable at times but in my eyes she has saved us! She did that act out of the goodness of her heart and you don't give a damn! Open your eyes Brian! Stop looking at the bad things she has done and think more about the good things that she had done for us! That being returning three of our children! Open your eyes Brian and learn to forgive people!" she yelled and then pushed past me and out to the hall. I looked after her shocked. I didn't expect her to blow up at me like that. She did make some good points though. She always does, she's just like that. She always can make you think and she sure is making me do that now. Was what I did wrong? Or was it the best thing? I couldn't stop debating which was the right thing to do. Half of me is saying it was right...but that was my mind talking. My heart was saying what I did was wrong...and I have learned that I should always go with my heart.

I groaned and ran my hands through my hair.

"Damn it!" I said under my breath. I just realized I just made a mistake...a HUGE mistake. What I did was wrong and I had to fix it somehow and quickly.
