Thirst for Innovation
There seems to be a theme that occurs over and over again, a very dry theme. It's too bad this theme is the very essence of many popular anime series (i.e. DragonBall). It goes somewhere along the lines of "Battle, retreat, leisure, regroup and battle again." Too bad, eh? Somehow, this manages to remain fresh all the time. Yet, the battles themselves gradually get worse and worse. This theme gets boring, tiresome and later, degrades the whole series itself. Sadly, the newbies in the anime community, along with the creators themselves, either have not come to this realization or refuse to take this into consideration. Can you see it, it's everywhere? You probably don't even see it in Gundam Wing, huh? Let's take a closer look: Heero and the others fight against the Alliance, Romafeller and others all the time and, what happens? You got it! They either win or lose and then, after a filler episode, they regroup and attack again! Bravo, but that's just the beginning... Even when you think it can't get as bad as Janet Reno's frames, it does. Along with the plot repeats, there's also the "whole makeover" in which a series (or movie, I might add) extracts every aspect of a competitor or preceeding success story (maybe even not-so-successful, it doesn't really matter much) and calls it their own. Ever played Battle Arena Toshinden for Playstation? Well, if you have, you'll find this interesting...have you ever played Soul Edge, also for Playstation? Ah, you see what I'm talking about! The majority of the characters are identical to that of the opposing game. Looks aren't everything in this case, as they have the exact same weapons, to add to the effect! You'd think they would get sued, huh? Nah! Since they disguise their look-alikes, there's nothing the law can do, amazingly! The same is true of you blacklisted page pirates out there (you know who you are, hard living with the guilt, I'm sure) taking other people's hard work and duplicating it. Then, just to protect yourself from being down a creek without a paddle, you add a little "property of" scene at the end. (And 'no', I'm not talking about quality sites like Vegeta Insane, I do believe effort shows. ^_^) Off topic here but, I just wanted to say that I think it's hilarious the way those people with malfunctioning brains cover up, and those horrible banners that I wouldn't even show to an inmate in prison for punishment. Well, as a whole, the online anime community is doing very well. Originality is everything in this day and age. Especially when crooks are out to get ya! My ideal world...it's a dream, isn't it? It looks as though my Energizer doesn't last forever so, I'll wrap it up. Thanks for reading!
