Do you know the exact history of the Avoca Town Hall?

If so, please help us with your comments.
…………………………………………………………………...
The Avoca Town Hall was built in 1912, on the present site by William I. Smoots.  The first dance was held in the new building (call ed the Avoca Opera House at the time) was in June, 1913.  About 150 were present to try the new floor.   In addition, many spectators occupied seats in the gallery (or balcony) An orchestra from Lincoln provided the music.  A midnight supper was served to  about 35 couples at the nearby Oxford Hotel.
The facility has been received many minor renovations since it's 1912 beginning, however the most recent remodeling occurred when the Avoca Volunteer Fire Department acquired the building in 1953.
During it's nearly 90 years history, the Avoca Town Hall has been the site for uncounted events.   If you would like to share a particular tale or story about an event at the Hall, please share with anyone on the committee or write to the webmaster.
