About Me

Here is a decent picture of me at work at the National Weather Service in Jackson, Mississippi.

He is a quick story of my life to this point, just if case anyone is interested. I grew up in western Iowa and eastern Nebraska. I became interested in weather at the very young age of 4 when a severe thunderstorm moved through the western Iowa town of Woodbine I was living in at the time. It made a big impression on me, and as long as I can remember I wanted to be a meteorologist.

I went to high school at Benson High School in Omaha, Nebraska. I then took two years off from school to "find myself." Well that didn't work out all that well so I decided to go back to school. I first started at Metro Community College in Omaha before I transferred my sophomore year to Creighton University also in Omaha. There I declared my major as Atmospheric Science, of course. Over the next 3 years I able to do a series of internships that have helped me get to where I am today. First in the summer of 1999 I was selected as one of ten undergraduate students to take part in a internship program at the National Severe Storms Labatory in Norman, Oklahoma (some Norman Pictures). There I got to see first hand the latest research and even take part in a project myself. My project was to study the El Nino of 1997-98 and its effects on the country of  Peru in South America. We were looking for any patterns, or obvious triggers to the afternoon convection which devastated that county. Through that experience I was able to go to the AMS annual meeting in Long Beach, California in 2000. There I met the director of Western Region National Weather Service. Through her was able to get a temporary position in Western Region Headquarters during the summer of 2000 (some Salt Lake pics). This turned in a permanent SCEP position that I continued when I cam back to Omaha for my last year of school. Although I was employed by the Western Region I worked at the National Weather Service in Omaha during that last year of school. There I received great experience that helped me get the position that I have today. In August of 2001 I graduate from Creighton with a BS in Atmospheric Sciences. During the summer of 2001 I was offered a perm intern position at the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Jackson, Mississippi. So that is where I reside today.

Believe it or not, for about that whole time above I dated the same girl. Her name is Stacy, and after 5 years of dating we finally tied the knot on July 7, 2001. Here is a picture of us on our wedding day. If you see swear pouring down our faces, it is because we had an outdoor wedding in July in Omaha. Which meant that it was 95 degrees outside with adewpoint in the mid 70s. We were surprised we didn't have anyone faint!
