*Faeries were once greatly feared, but very respected and were known as 'The Good Folk' or 'The good neighbors.*
*Faeryland (Home of the Faeries) was often confused with the land of the dead*
*It is told that faeries were once much larger than average humans, but over the years became smaller and smaller*
*Faeries believed to inhabit trees when they died, waiting to be reincarnated.*
*Those who cut down those inhabited trees were said to have bad luck for the rest of their lives.*
*The widely known mushroom prop is only a recent addition to the faery legends*
*Instead of working, most faeries enjoyed music and dance. (Who wants to be a faery now?)*
*The "Faery Time" is usually at night.*
*The earliest dances were either round or in a large chain, but the favorite faery formation was the ring. (A faery ring was the name given to circles of bright green or withered grass around which they would nightly cavort.*
*Enchanted Springs and wells were thought to be the entrances to faeryland.*
*Mermaids were once considered faeries of the element of water.*
*Faeries have the power to appear larger and smaller by changing their shape or appearance. (Everyone remember this one!)*
*On rare occasions faeries came in monstrous sizes and were greatly feared. (Obviously! They had power AND magic)*
*Another recent development of the faery were their wings. (18th Century)*
*Cats were popularily believed to be evil faeries. (Purrrcisely)*
*There was also faery dogs, who were generally white with red ears.*
*There were more faery queens than you can count, but soooo few kings. (There has to be something wrong with that)*
*Many of the faery queens had ties or were similar to mortal queens. (What a coincidence)*
*A type of faery that helped around a household was called a brownie. (I wonder what color they were)*
*Faery women were famous spinners and dyers.*
*Faeryland is described as a place of endless delights.*
*Faeries often hunted Faery deer as a sport, but what they really liked to hunt were mortals...*
*Other Faery sports included ball games, such as football, and others liked hurling and chess.*
*Faerys are known to produce a lure beautiful music not even saints could resist.*
*The earliest record of a faeries were their dances.*
*At one point it was thought that faeries only feed on spiritous liquors.*
*It was once thought that seeing faery calvacades was actually a vision of the host of the dead.*
*Though faerys do live much longer than humes, they are not immortal.*
*Faeryland IS the realm of the unconscious, a dream world which anything can happen.*
*Sleeping mortals could find themselves at the mercy of mortals...*
*The fearsome faeries of folk legend were frequently the bringers of bad dreams.*
*Time has absoulutely no meaning in faeryland. A day in there could mean 50 human years...*
