PINECREST SUFFERS LOSS IN GIRLS' SOCCER

     Leesville Road handed Pinecrest its first loss of the season at the Brittany Willis Memorial Scholarship Showcase girls' soccer event held in Wilson Friday night.
     In one of the marquee matches of the first day, Leesville Road (9-1-1), the fourth-ranked 4-A team in the state, got a goal in the first 30 seconds of play from Ally Shiveler.
     The eighth-ranked Patriots (9-1-1) were unable to find the net in the 5-0 loss. Also scoring for Leesville Road were Kathryn Page (two), Nitang Jones and Kim Kern.
     The 48-team competition continued on Saturday with the Patriots scheduled to meet Burlington Williams, the second-ranked team from 3-A in an afternoon contest.
